I have three Yoyo Loaches in a twenty gallon tank with 2 dojo's, 2 gouramis & 1 small chinese algea eater. The tank is about seven months old and I started out with just two yoyo's. Since I've had them one of the yoyo's had a strange habit of not always swimming regulary but twitching, almost like a convulsion wherever he swam. Now all three of them do this occasionally or on and off. I do weekly water changes and other than this they seems healthy and happy, eating and playing although their sleeping on their sides gives me an occasional fright. Is this twitching behavior normal? and if not what could it be a sign of?

It could be a parasite are they flicking and rubbing, shine a torch in the tank with the light switched off to see if you can see a gold dusting or yellow dusting on them.

Yep, shine a flashlight down on them - it's probably velvet.
One (and possibly 2) of my bettas are currently suffering with that. They go along fine, and then suddenly they start to freak out like they're being electrocuted, then go on their way like nothing happened.

If that's what it looks like - it's most likely velvet or some other nasty parasite.

Malachite Green, or Maracide will work fine to treat, if that's what it is.. Maracide is also safe to use with plants.
