I have noticed something strange with my australian turquoise rainbow fish. When he starts doing his little mating dance in front of the female he develops an extremely predominant bright yellow stripe that goes down his back. Is this normal and can someone tell me anything you know about this behavior because I cannot find anything about this on the internet. It's weird because it doesn't fade in or out, it just seems to appear and disappear at will.

I've breed a couple of rainbows in my time, and when they develop that yellow stripe it's they sign are the best fish to breed with and if other males develop the breeding stripe as well you can sometimes get a fight on your hands for the breeding right.

I love it though when they make this stripe as it's stunning and they can turn it on and off in just a few seconds.

How ever posting in the correct forum will get better results as their not livebearing fish.
