I've seen an advert in a fish magazine for 25kg of Tufa rock and wondered if this was a good deal?

I want to make rockwork to cover about half of my soon to arrive juwel 300 (121cm * 51 cm base), will this be enough?

Is tufa rock heavier or lighter than rainbow rock (or is it full of little holes like lava rock)?

Does Tufa rock change any tank specs - ph or hardness?

I plan to silicone the rocks together then put them in the tank.

Any general advice will also be appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

Tufa rock is only suitable for saltwater, brackish and african rift valley tanks as it will seriously raise the pH and hardness of the water to levels unsuitable for most freshwater fish..

Thanks, I'll avoid that one then. I read on some sites that it only raises kh, on others that it'll raise ph to 7.6 but no higher...different stuff everywhere basically.

Is Rainbow rock or lava rock any good? I currently use rainbow rock and don't see any ill effects (it's just a little heavy so I'm a bit worried about all of that weight on the stand) so I may just go out and buy more. what do you think?

Cheers
Andy
