I found out recently that my brothers g/f had two bettas that she was keeping in those betta bowfront kits that sell at wal-mart. A couple weeks ago she said that one jumped out while she was cleaning the bowl, and her cousin spilled the tank.I decided to set up a 1 gallon vase for her and take it to her house. I knew she probably didn't keep very good care of them, but I was completely disgusted by what I saw when I got to her house! You could barely see the lil boys through the nasty water. I cleaned the tank, took the divider out, added a clay pot to the little tank, and put the other boy in the vase that I had set up with gravel and a live plant. Amazingly enough they didn't have fin rot. I went over them several times with a flashlight, and they seemed to be ok. The smell from that little tank was the most disgusting thing i've ever smelled
her mom had to light a candle it smelled so bad!! She doesn't know I went and did that, I hope she realizes how bad it was when her mom tells her. I will go over there every week and clean them if I have to!! Honestly they would have been better off in their wal-mart cups.
She is still here at my house, so hopefully she will take the hint when she sees what I have done.
