Still can't see it, probably as I'm on an iPad, says it isn't available for mobile devices :(
I can see Harlequins ok, so I'll know what to watch for next time

my corys have been displaying this behaviour for about 3 weeks but i see no eggs. unless the other fish are eating them before i notice?

My bronzes have been doing it for months but no eggs so don't worry too much. They'll get there in their time. It's the one thing I've learned. They have their own timescale and there's no rushing them lol

i dont know if this will help any i have been looking at my 2 bronze corys the 1st has a darker less straight stripe on the body a slightly fatter face and a shorter dorsal fin ( i think its dorsal, fin on their backs) where as the other 1 is total opposite longer more defined fin and comes away from the body more, slimmer face and a straighter dark stripe. i cant upload pics for some dont know why. from what i have described have i sexed correctly in thinking the 1st one is female?

hmm ... it could be. The females are more rounded around the gill area. When I went looking for a male bronze I looked for one with a really small head in the hope it turns out male. I still think it's male but only time will tell.

If I can get a pic of my male and female peppered sat together I'll post it as it's really obvious

Really can't sex them without something visual to see. Try loading your photos on Photobucket or Flickr or something similar, then copy the direct link to upload here.

okay have just looked at the fish again and the 1 with the shorter fin and darker stripe has a raised head when its resting on the gravel whereas the other 1 doesnt. she is defintely female then

it's not really that simples micknat. You'll need to study them. Is one definitely bigger and fatter than the other? Are they the same age? Are they the same breed of cory and also they will be more likely to spawn in larger numbers. I've found they'll spawn when they are ready but they won't if they are stressed in any way. In the wild they live in really large groups and they definitely seem happier with a bigger group.
I don't know if it's true but mine seem to have got more interested in each other since I changed to sand and I have read they are more likely to spawn on sand than on gravel

GOTCHA!!

The other 2 peppered are males so you can see just how much bigger she is :)

hehe if i didnt have to work i would sit there allday watching them. yes they are the same breed atm roughly the same size as to age im not sure, they are about 1.5 2 inches long. i want get a couple more and round it up 4 maybe 5 ive been trying to find pics of bronze cory juveniles so i can compare.

i got them at the same time from p@h

OMg! shes huge. That brought so many terrible "big lady love" jokes to my head. I almost couldn't contain it.

BTW, we saw some peppered cories recently and my hubby drooled over them, I totally overlooked them, but I'm starting to want some I think. They are cute!

I think if you get 3 more and get the three together the chances of getting male and females are increased. Also they are more likely to breed in that larger group.

Good luck with it and keep us posted with how you get on :)

She is very large! The best of it is - she's NOT the one that laid the 17 eggs!!! It was my other, much smaller female (not in this picture, she was off somewhere digging in the sand lol)

I'm pretty sure this female is full of eggs but she's teasing the males. I can't help wondering how many she will lay once she stops being a tease lol :hyper:

ok i will do that and forego the pearl danios and the cherry barbs. i dont want to over crowd the tank, i will just have be patient, if they do end up breeding and i miss it is it advisable to put java moss in the tank?
