and US comedies don't? I half agree with you though, it can be annoying. Only REALLY annoying when it is 'canned laughter' and not just the laughter of a live audience.
The League of Genltemen is a good example.. 1st and 2nd series have audience laughter however the 3rd is quiet. Makes it a little more sinister

I didn't exclude US comedies I just merely specified UK because most of them are paid my moi and many other TV licence payers. I think a lot of "audience laughter" must be false as 90% (made up figure) of what they laugh at couldn't be remotely found funny.

I mean what video were you watching to not find that funny? I mean it had everything... shouting! some more shouting and a wide vocabulary of Dan... comic genius apparently. I'm sure the person who left that comment on youtube would be entertained by a pineapple upside down. I never found Alan funny at all far too much canned laughter at nothing funny at all. I think he is such a poor "comedian" I don't think I've never laughed at any of his gags.

The Peep Show on the other hand... well thats a whole 'nother story!
