Hi i just bought a small fish tank on the car boot for pennys.

i cleaned everything and filled it with water, then set up the other stuff, which is why i am here.

im not too sure what everything and what it does and if i have set it up right???

i have a superair flow machine thing. the long black tube is stuck to the wall and lets of little air bubbles constantly and the tubing comes out the tank and is hooked up by too little tubes to the machine, and it has a cork screw thing that you can move in and out? whats that

i have a box with two switches, ones light and the other pump, i can see the light works but the othe stick test tube thing connected attatched to the other wire just glows slightly red. and thats in the tank

the other thing i think is a filter, it sticks to the side of the tank and hums and a little jet of water flows out of it,

but dont you need a heater and have i already got it? :shout:

I think the test tube thing might be a heater... but if its glowing red it cant be good..

i have a superair flow machine thing = Airpump

tubing comes out the tank and is hooked up by too little tubes to the machine = Airline tubing

and it has a cork screw thing that you can move in and out? whats that = Gang Valves (for regulating/increasing/decreasing air from the pump to the tank)

stick test tube thing = Heater Thermostat.

You'll know you've got a heater in the tank (its an older one and may need replacing) when the water heats up (check thermometer) and remains constant.
Is there a dial at the top of the heater (glass tube) so you can set your temperature levels.
