tropical fish tank help needed FAST plz

ok my tropical fish tank heater has broken and its l8 now to buy a new 1

the water is goin cold and my fish look like they are turning white

i have a small plec, 4 tiger barbs, 3 pengiun fish, a few zebra danios and 2 small orange ones i think they are guramis or something.

the temp is normally on 28 degrees


what can i do

might sound daft but you could wrap blankets around your tank and do a few water changes over the night with siightly warmer water than normal (and i mean slightly) and leave your lights on also leave the heating on in the room all night. should be ok till the morning if you do that.

sadly there is not alot that you can do,
is the light off?
it is not uncommon for fish to turn white when the lights go out
do you have a space heater?
i would crank a space heater in the fish room (not to boiling but just enough to keep the room a bit warmer)
then keep the tank light on all night and wrap a thick quilt around the sides of the tank

Plastic bottles filled with hot water (not boiling as it'll melt the plastic and damage fish which touch it) into tank, make sure they are sealed as the temp change shock is not a good idea. Works like hot water bottles.

did the heater stop working , or did it break as in cracked glass ? try the space heater and or water bottles .

ok this is what ive done, im not an expert at fish tanks by the way ive just had the tank for about 2 months now and everythin as gone fine till now, ive done some water changes i.e took some of the cold water out and put nice warm water in and have also placed a big thick blanket over the tank

the tank is about 3 foot long and 1.5 foot length and i have also turned the light off, and the heater has cracked at the glass i dont know why but hope the fish store gives me a new 1

Unless some of the outlets, wires, or anything else are cut or not working properly there shouldn't be a problem. The blanket should not be around a plug anyway, just around the tank.
