This picture was taken from a privately owned large tropical fish store about 30 minutes from my home. The picture is of a single aisle of fishtanks. There are seven such isles. Amazing variety of freshwater and saltwater fish. I will not purchase any fish from them until I know they are good stewards of the hobby.

Soo, give yourself time. Walk those aisles and look at the fish. Is there Ich? If yes, is the tank shut? Are there dead fish, or emaciated fish with bent spines?
Do the tanks look clean and the fish look healthy?

There's not much more you can ask yourself in a store like that, other than if they'll sell you 37 more tanks.

I had an apartment in Glen Burnie for about 4 years in the early 80s. I didnt have a tank setup up then since I was travelling a lot for my company. I don't think I was in that store.
