Hi everyone, I used to be a member here years ago, long since given up fishkeeping and had to make a new account.

I was wondering if anyone can find a post I was keeping up with last time I was here surrounding an American poster who had discovered tropical, koi and more in a small pond in the US somewhere which had produced many hybrids and the like. I have searched for it and cant find it but I have a similar, if not quite as interesting story about a pond/small lake near to where I live, in southern England.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

I know which post you mean that hasnt been active in months maybe evan years so im not sure you will be able to find it.

I too can vaguely remember a post like the one you describe. It was some sort of tropical spring.

Whats your story out of interest, might warrant a new thread :p

i also remember that one...sounded really interesting, she had some really good pics aswell.

found it!

nice search skills. After reading 8 pages and seeing no pics I was worried it was a hoax.....great to see proof pics, incredibly interesting discovery.

Great read! It would be interesting to see how this hot spring is doing 3 years down the line. I am a member of JSTOR which the op mentioned and have tracked down the location. Shame i live in the UK lol.
What's your similar story Pablo as i live in southern england (hampshire) so would be interested :)

Wow that thread is some TFF history :)

Yes, more on your story!

What is JSTOR? And I would also like to hear more about this. I would really love to see one of these in the UK.

JSTOR is a collection of journals that you can access online. I used it quite a bit for uni work, it was also quite interesting to scan through the more scientific side of things relating to fishkeeping. If I have the article refered to in the original post, the pond is in Nevada.

An update post would be a nice read.

Oh really? The article i have is for a different state and has the content the op spoke about :S

Probably quite a few of them dotted around
The original said northwest and the follow up said neighbouring Utah so it could be Nevada Oregon or Idaho I guess

(I say quite a few, probably best to take the "quite" out )

^Yeah, sure there are! Wish i was in the US lol.
Article I have is for Idaho. @shroob - is yours dated 1964 too which the op said? would be good to track down which one it is!

Yeah mines dated 1964, to be exact is is called 'Additional Introductions of Tropical Fishes into Southern Nevada' by Hubbs and Deacon. I haven't read the full article, just the abstract.
