Wow, thanks for finding it, although good to look through again, not alot more there than I remember.
With regards to the pond near me, it is near where I grew up, I havent been there since around 1999/2000. Back then it was a bit swampy, more an overflow of the local stream that runs throuugh the village, a bit smelly and dirty, but lots of reeds and water plants growing around the area. We would occasionally make a raft out of barrels and pallets etc and sail out on it only to be stranded in the middle and have to wade through the #105###ty mud and water home again. I never once saw or thought anything would be living in there. I took my dogs and kids for a walk down there a couple of weeks back, and I just couldnt believe how big it was!! It has grown 10 fold or more, into somewhat of a mini lake. There was a guy fishing there and he pulled in 3 BIG carp in 10 minutes with rolled up bread.
He told me about this article. http

This goldfish, of all things, was caught in the pond/lake and he told me that he has been fishing there once or twice a month for 8 years. In that time he has caught:
Hundreds of carp ranging from babies to 5lb
1 mirror carp, although he wasnt 100% sure it was.
eels
catfish
goldfish
koi
and more smaller fish that he wasnt entirely sure what they were.
So I'm not saying there are tropical fish exactly, but he also told me that he personally knows 4 or 5 people who have dumped goldfish koi and tropical fish in there after outgrowing tanks or ponds. The place is quiet and secluded, I have told a few local people about it and they didnt even know the pond was there! If I had to guess its size, really rough estimate...25m x 75m, and apparently 4 to 5 ft deep in the middle.
Its on the edge of a country estate/park which is open to the public 24/7 so easily accessible without any risk of wrong-doing but I would presume fishing it would be illegal, a license being the minimum you would need.
