Tropical Clean Up Crew Advice

Ignore the link to 'tropical tank cleaners' - very misleading. The corydoras suggestion is a good one but please remember, no fish cleans the tank, that is your job and every fish/invertebrate needs it's own diet and care.

id start with 5 or 6 albino corys and when algae begins to show up slowly add snails until it seems contained for they reproduce quickly
Malaysian Trumpet Snails are great for keeping sand spotless AND they don't eat plants

^^^^^^What she said. MTS are awesome. They leave live plants alone and eat dead ones; they eat leftover food and will even eat dead fish.

I have cherry shrimp , otos , and MTS.............in a 55 US gal tank , the problem would be your choice in tank mates , if your selection is on the small side , say [ most ]fish under 2".....you should be ok , trumpet snails have never been a problem with larger fish for me .
The snails and shrimp breed pretty freely in this tank , my plants , deco , and glass are always free of algae .

remember ..partial water changes on a regular basis .......I suggest weekly , 10 % is a good start , more or less depending on your fish load .
