Hi,

Well as some of you know I bought 2 more Trilineatus about 3 months ago, maybe alittle longer. After my breeding bronze cories passed on. They have been very happy in the community tank I have, and today they spawned!!
I did nothing special, like a water change or anything. SO glad I made a divide months ago, as had to put it in the tank, as the danios and chain loaces were eating some of the eggs.

So far I've saved about 20 and they are in a 2gallon tank, with some blue meth' hopefully I'll get some more if I have distrubed the cories too much.

this is the first time I've seen cories spawn, they usually do it when I'm in work, but had a day off today, yay!!

here's hoping I can raise these ones right, I'll keep you posted

Hi §tudz :)

Congratulations on the spawn!

It's not often that we hear of a member with C. trilineatus eggs. Your corys must be especially healthy and happy.

Please keep us updated on their progress. :D

it seems the danios in the tank got to most the eggs before I saw the coryes spawning, I've saved about 20 eggs only...
just gotta wait a few days now and see if anything hatches. TBH I didnt even know the female was ready to spawn, I hardly see them, as they hide a lot. I'm just glad they did. and hopefully they will again :)

wooohoo! they hatched....

They seem bigger than my bronze fry were when they hatched, which can only bee a good sign.

All the eggs had fungus, even though they were treated with meth' blue.
Didnt think any would hatch, but they are whizzing about the tank :D

I've got an air stone going in it at the moment any other tips?

I have liquifry to feed them... when should I start feeding?

I think it was inch worm that that told me about putting the filter gunk into the tank... should I add some now?

I gather they can feed off it too?

Hi §tudz :)

I hope Coryman sees your thread and answers your question. I understand he does that with great success. I have just been doing it this way for a short time and could learn something too.

After they hatch I have been rinsing out a filter in the fry tank and letting it settle. I've been feeding them microworms during this period, but I believe there are probably some microorganisms in the gunk that they might be able to eat as well.

I've heard that C. trilineatus are not the easiest fry to raise, so be sure not to overfeed them with the liquid fry food. Also, be sure to change some water every day to keep bacteria from building up.

I really hope you are successful raising them! Can you post any pictures?

I'll try to get some pics, and I'll add a little 'gunk' tomoz night, they will have eaten their yoke by then hopefully.

They are mch bigger than the anaeus fry I had? hopefully thi is gonna be a plus

:good: Brilliant §tudz

Congrats on your baby trillis. That is awesome. Bet you are over the moon. Look forward to them growing up and we definitely want update pics from time to time. Those pics you've posted are very cute. Their egg sacs are so big. Have you any idea how many you have??

Well done. I feed my panda and bronze fry microworms in the first few weeks before moving onto JMC catfish pellets and Tetra Prima.

:D

I think there are some where between 6-9 fry, I did save about 17 eggs, and they all seemed to hatch apart from maybe 3... so there could be more.

I did notice they had massive yolk sacs, well compared to my bronze fry I had, before they all died, and later the parents when to the eternal fish tank in the sky. :(

I dont have any cultures of microworms I do have some bryne shrimp kits, but not sure about starting it. I'm going to feed liquifry (as stated above)

I've not been too successful, well I've not been successful in rasing the fry of cories yet, this hopefully will be a first.

I'm torn between keeping them and buying some new ones to go with them (if they survive) to breed them, OR selling them... I suppose the first idea would be the better one. but I'll have to buy some new ones to make sure there isn't too much inbreeding.

on that note I could keep the males or the females and buy the other sex.

but hey, lets not get ahead of myself :D

going to do the first water change tonight when I get home from work.

I was so shocked they hatched, as the eggs had fungus on them, and I was going to scoup the out when I got home yesterday, but I left them, being lazy, lol, and they hatched :D

So looks promising they seem very healthy they are whizzing above the tank, its funny to watch them as they have trouble balancing and end up rolling over and over in the currently from the aitstone.

With all our cories, we've bought a few from different LFS in hopes of widening the gene pool. We have also been very tempted to keep our fry, because you get so attached to them and some are just so gorgeous, but we've actually got another breeder who we are swapping fry with, so we have some more from different genes. The remaining fry we trade in at the LFS for credit.

Great that they still hatched from fungused eggs.

Again, well done. They are gorgeous cories and I wish you success in raising these lovely babies.

:D

thanks

I am really hoping these babies survive, as it will be a great confidence lift for aswell. seeing I have failed before.

I couldnt stop watching the little blighters last night.

How are your otos coming along? have you managed to spawn them again yet?

Hi §tudz

I had 4 spawns that I know of from the otos, but haven't seen anything for a while. I have 3 enormous females that really need to spawn as they slide down the glass when they are resting  , they are so fat. I have most of the fry in our community tank, and you can only really tell a few are babies, the rest are fully grown. The rest are in my fry tank keeping that clean for me. We have a few fish that love eating eggs and Alex took out most of the Hygropolysperma out, which is what they spawned on. We still have a nice bunch in the tank, but they haven't done anything for a while. My pandas have stopped spawning for a while now, so it may be a seasonal thing.

I'm sure you will do well with these babies and your cories will spawn again for you. Before you know it, you'll have a tank FULL of trilli fry :hyper: .

:D
