Trilineatus Cories Just Keep Spawning...

Just a little update, after losing fry regularly,i decided for the time being to shut the fry tank down and try raising remaining fry in a breeding net in the main tank...

This has prove to be doing well(touch wood)and i've only lost one small fry in the past week, whereas i was losing 2 a day before,i still dont know why i was losing them, with daily w/c and bottom clean & water stats were spot on,unless i get masses of them again i'll continue raising them in the breeding for now.
Wish me luck please :)

I have 7 eggs due to hatch in the next day or so,all looking good :good:

Good luck!

I've had no choice but to use breeding nets and I've only had one baby die on me so far. They are a pain to keep clean though. Great thread by the way :good:

Don't feel too bad, Harlequins; it happens to everyone. I've been having the same problem myself. For the last several weeks I've been losing fry almost every day in one of my tanks. Water changes didn't help and neither did stiring the sand. Yesterday I took the remaining fry out and set up another tank for them with new sand. So far I haven't lost any today. I hope that solves the problem.

Good luck to your fry too. :)

Really odd how that works, best of luck Harlequins really hope the babies like the new home and grow fast for you x

Well 3 eggs outta 7 have hatched so far, tri's have been busy again and i've saved 12 eggs :)

I forgot to update, the 7 eggs hatched in the end,one fry looked deformed, just a blob with tiny tail,it died the next day,the 12 eggs i saved,3 of these seem infertile,so was removed, but the others look fine,so hopefully will hatch in a the next day or so :)

Update- eggs are starting to hatch and no fry losses (touch wood) with the others at the moment :)

Hi Harlequin, just been reading through your thread, and its lovely to see someone dedicated to cory breeding the way you are. I was wandering about the fry losses and came up with an idea. Why were you doing twice daily waterchanges,....were your levels increasing to need changes, and were you doing changes even when water stats were 0. Just wandering if all the wterchanges, were causes the fry to stress and causing them to die. Its just an idea, the other thing, the fry number seem to get to thirty something and then they would die...maybe the fry tank was too overcrowded and the weeker ones would die. Its just an idea. I am probably completely wrong. Good work with the rest of them, Would love to see you get some skunk babies xx

Thanks :)

The first lot of batches dying where i was doing 2 x daily w/c was where nitrites were showing, hence trying to keep these down, later i had a 30l tank with fry in and i was only doing 20% w/c daily and routine cleaning of the bottom yet they still continued to die,so i abondoned the fry tank and have only lost 1 fry since they have been in the main tank in a breeding net so i don't know...

Just one of them things i guess, but thanks for your input :)
