Hi All,

For the last 2-3 weeks i have been feeding my 7 week old platy fish crushed flake.

The guy at LFS said feed them 1/4 of a frozen bloodworm block... they will love it.

I replace 1 meal yesterday with the bloodworm..... after a short while i noticed some of the fish were hanging around at the top corners of my tank standing still ( not standing but in the same place and not moving)

I tried feeding them today and exactly the same thing..... im feeling annoyed that with flakes they look so energetic afterward but with bloodworm i feel like they are about to die....

The next morning they are back to normal/right as rain and swimming about like crazy.

should i stop feeding them bloodworm??

Thanks,

Dave

there is no reason to be annoyed....simple solution....stop feeding them it

frozen foods are way over rated, flakes are way better for your fish

I only give frozen bloodwarms to my fish as a treat like I feed them it once every 2 or 3 days. They love bloodwarms especially my Danios and Angel. Its probably the fish are just full up and there just having some quiet time.

My fish end up fat as hell after bloodworms. Then they take the day off to get "Rid" of the food :p

Personally I think every 2-3 days is quite a lot.

I feed mine frozen once a week at the most

I wonder if you're not thawing out the bloodworms? Might just be too cold. You try freeze dried bloodworms instead, if you want, or stop feeding the frozen bloodworms.

I was basically getting a small cup of tank water and putting the part cube in. leave it for 5 minutes and then sprinkling it in the tank.... poor fish i feel so bad because they just seemed to stand in one place around different parts of the tank with thier fins down

  my poor babies

your fish were active and healthy while feeding them flakes.....correct?

dont try to fix what is not broken.....good quality flake food is all your fish need

I agree with Mike, flake is all they need.

But 5 minutes isn't long enough to fully thaw. Let it thaw for a half an hour to an hour before feeding them.

of course 5 minutes is  long enough, live foods are best for fish its better then any good quality flake food lol

Feeding 2 o r 3 times a week is ok  They are gorging themselves feed less worms. frozen bloodworm is good for the fish  if you can feed live foods it’s far better.

Mikey1 many flake foods are also way over rated,

I put the block in frozen and it defrosts and gets annihilated in seconds :/
