I have recently found C.Gossei that i have been looking for 2 years. I can mybe get 6 for $34+tax CDN. But my tank is ucrrently fighting against finrot, although my cories are not affected, just my guppies, will it be a bad decision if i went and brought some? the treatment will end in 2 weeks later..if i buy then then, i'm afraid that they would be sold. These fish are rare at times, i dont know what i should do, suggestions?

mmm not good to buy fish when your're treating a tank at all
Can you not reserve the fish - or buy and pay for them but ask the shop to keep them for you ?

No, they'd rather sell it out fast..then to feed and raise the fish for you..esp for 2 weeks

Well if that's the case, they'd be even more expensive if you bought them - brought them home and put them into a tank that's undergoing treatment and they died as a result :X
I take it you don't have a hospital tank setup (with mature filter) to keep them in for the time being ?

If not, I would advise you to wait until they get them in again :)

Acually, i DO have a 10G in my basement. this is the case:

i have 2 filters running on my 10g right now, i can take one out and put it in the 10G that i can use again. IT would be too much work to set it back up..no? I can put them in the current set up 10g but, my sparkling gouramis are bullies, the cories are going to be nipped. so that's not a choice.

EDIT: and the coires are rare, as i've said i've only seen them once in 2 years that i've been searching :(

As long as you can shack them up in a tank with a heater and cycled filter you should be OK. Follow the ole QT routine, apart from you're not QTing them from what they might carry, its against what they could get :)

so...i can use all new water? no substrate? just a old filter and a heater with new freash water can i can dump the fish in?

You'd still need a cycled filter and zero ammonia and nitrite readings for the water to be "safe" for your new fish :/

The answer is yes so long as said filter is cycled. As in been in use for a good length of time elsewhere in a tank of equal or larger size for just as many or more fish. The water will be fine and I'm sure the cories won't mind a lack of substrate (although maybe you could spare a little from another tank? Or pick up and wash/clean some silver sand or some such?). Best of luck.
Hugs,

Hi kevin007 :)

Actually, a 10 gallon tank is no trouble at all to set up if you have some filter media available. All you have to do is make a clone of another tank. Just fill it up and put the filter in and it's ready for fish. If you have a healthy tank, I find it helps to start out filling the 10 gallon 1/3 of the way with water from it and the rest with new dechlorinated water. . It seems to help keep the little bubbles from forming on the glass. A bare bottom is fine for a while, but you will probably want to add something later. Monitor the ammonia and nitrites and if necessary do water changes to control them.

Now, for the gosseis............. If there is any thought in your mind that they are less than 100% healthy and adjusted to the tank in the lfs, by all means keep them away from exposure to sick fish and any stress from aggressive gouramis. They have traveled far and their immune systems have been very stressed already. If the tank your gouramis are in is healthy, you might want to consider putting the gosseis in there and moving the gouramis out to the new tank since they will be better able to handle any stress that could result.

Good luck with these beautiful fish! :D

How do you clone from a tank that's being treated for disease, without introducing the disease into the quarantine tank ? :/ To me that defeats the point and he might as well put them straight into the tank being treated if that's the case.

Unless of course he has a third thank with disease free filter to clone from - but I don't think that's the case ?

If you bothered to click on the link in kevin007's sig before you posted, you could have easily seen that he does indeed own 3 tanks.
