i have entered my small first attempt ... my name has not even appeared on the voting list???
It seems that you only stand a chance if you have a HUGE tank and spent a fortune on plants and wood!
i think this is a shame as alot will be put off by this...and not bother...personally i think there should be a "Best Newcomer" award!

Yep!..... My mistake Hayz.....I posted your picture in the competition, but did not list you in the voting poll.... Errors are bound to happen when you compile 3 competitions in one day (FOTM, TOTM and POTM) and then have to copy and paste some of the photos in your own pictures file..... and then move them to photo bucket and back to the poll thread because they are attachments and not in IMG format..... at the same time composing the threads for the new month competitions X 3... pin some, unpin others etc. etc...

I appologise for the oversight, but will enter you in the November 2011 TOTM (it's too late now to add you to the poll at this point as too many members have cast their votes already)....... Sorry for the inconvenience.

also, its nothing to do with the amount of money you spend on it.

yes a lot of the winners have spent a lot of money on their tanks, but some people havent and theyve won, or come close to winning.

its just how it goes really, 'OTM' competitions are all about opinions, it doesnt say anywhere how much has been spent on that particular tank..

Going very slightly off track, I was thinking recently that it would be nice to have a 'newbie tank of the month' competition, because it must take years to get close to the standard of most totm entries, so HayZ is sort of right in that a lot of newcomers would be put off entering because the other entries are so intimidating!

It doesn't - the tank that won only a couple of month's back was that parson's first tank and I'm fairly sure he'd only had it up and running a few months.

the other issue would be how you define a 'newbie'.

Yeah I did wonder about that. Someone who's been doing it less that 6 months/a year? Probably how you judge yourself. I would guess people don't want to be described as a newbie for too long!

My point was that the general standard of totm entries is very high so I'm put off entering mine, even though I'm quite proud of it. Must just be me being a wuss!

Plus there is no shame in asking for advice if you don't win. Plenty of friendly knowledgeable members that can help you with almost anything to do with a fish tank!

As explained though it was a simple mistake, something which has been rectified by your tank being entered into the next months TOTM competition. Would you rather be entered after the voting has started so you potentially lose out on 2 days of voting?

hey...i'm up for anything me! as i said..i doubt i would win anyway...the others are so much better

Keep the faith. I'm sure if you alter the tank any or wish to upload a newer photo of it then ludwig would accept.
