I decided to move my fish tank to the basement because the floor didnt seem to be holding up where I had it placed. And while I had it down I figured I would paint the back black and swap from gravel to sand. Here are the pics, Please comment. Looking into plants that will grow on rock or driftwood. Any suggestions appreciated!!

I am going to get rid of the blue plant. I want to keep it all natural colors but it was too empty in that corner without it. Hope you enjoyed!

There are a bunch of species of anubias, some tall and some smaller. They are my favorite plant so far. Green broad leaves, and they are tough. You can use super glue and stick them on your rock and they will root to it. Java fern is another option. I personally have had issues with it, but only because I'm a goofball and I was too violent with it during a move from one tank to another.

Someone else may have more suggestions. I love the background. Plain colored backgrounds let the plants and fish shine.

Tell me about it. The blue stands out too much. Working up the funds to get some different plants going. The busy background I had just didnt do anything for me. Wanted to appreciate the fish and items in my tank, not the fake stuff in the background. Thanks for your help. does the surface of the rock/wood have to be dry to super glue? Never would have thought to use that!

Love the large flat rocks in the tank, I want to get something like that happening. Trying to stack random shaped rocks is a challenge and then there's the fear of them falling.

It will cure instantly on water so it doesn't have to be dry. You could do a water change and then just stick the plants on where you like. When I was told about the glue, everyone said to find the gel type. I used the liquid and suffocated my java fern's rhizome.

I love the look too so i was real glad we had a bunch left over from the pond project. Cant wait to do my 6ft tank when i get it! I am building that one into my livingroom wall downstairs.

thanks for that. I would have done the same and killed fifty dollars in plants! Not a good thing when the misses dont want me to spend it anyways!
