Torpedo Barbs

I'm in Asia and it is warm here. The water temp is higher than 25C. I bought them for a week already. It seemed like the colours are slightly brighter in the morning but fade again after a while.

Can I ask does Ph level affects the colours? I kept the Ph level high for my pignose turtle.

Hello, what temp is your aquarium. Their red stripe tends to fade to a pink colour below 25C. Having said that one of my 6 is not as brisghtly coloured as the others.

How long have you had them? If recent it can take a little while for them to settle in and colour up.]

My water temp is 78F ,the ph is 7, and the tank has free swimming areas but is quite heavily planted. If i don't get time to thin the plants out every fortnight it gets like a jungle in there.
:)
I've had my torpedo barb for about 2 months. He only lost abit of colour when introduced but has been highly coloured since, during being alone, which he is yet again, and when fighting with the ones i put in for company.Perhaps some fish are more individual than others as this one definately prefers being the only torpedo in the tank.Maybe there's abit of red tailed shark in him as he sure acts like one. :D :D

I cant seem to find any for sale, anyone know of any around Manchester/Bolton? how much did you all pay?

I'm in South Wales and i've seen quite a few for sale but only in the last 4-5 months.I've never seen them for sale before this. They may be a recent import or just getting popular.
I've seen two sizes, small about 2 inches at around £8 each, and also the bigger ones at about 4-5 inches at £12 each. Not the cheapest of fish but if you see them live you definately see the attraction colourwise. They are trully attention grabbers. :) :)

you could mail order them from trimar at 3 for £20. That is actually a good price for them.

I have noticed that most now imported are much smaller than a few years back. Hope this isnt over exploitation. I dont think they are being farm bred yet.
