I have just finshed changing both off my tanks around and turned them into cichlid tanks. I sold my silverdollars, silver arowana, delhezi bichir, a couple flagtails (saved one), and a few more fish. I bought some good sized cichlids for my 150 and some small cichlids for my 55 gallon. In my 150, I bought 2 gray tilipia (lfs sold me them as that name, 1 8'', 1 6''), 2 port acaras, 1 jack dempsey 4'', and an oscar 4''. Left the 1 flagtail and tsn and added a sydontis eurptis and asian upside down catfish.
In my 55 I have a royal green terror 3'', 2 baby oscars 2-3'', 3 small firemouth cichlids 1.5-2''. For some reason my favorite cichlids are royal green terrors and fire mouths. I also like geophagus and blue acaras, but can never find them about 2''.

Sounds cool, I would change the stock as it grow though like between the two tanks etc.

With the Royal Green Terror any pics? Is it a regular Green Terror as there is an acara species called the Royal Acara and also sometimes called the Royal Terror.

Thanks. Yes I will change in stock in about 5 months and keep only 1 or 2 oscars.
As far as the green terror goes its just a plain gt with more color.
pics late tonight or tommrow.

Sounds great. Any pics? What happened to the LSN?
Pics tonight. Still have lima. :)

Shame you had sold the Flagtails
I am buying more. I regreted selling them, so more is coming. :)

Cichlids are the best. I'm sure you will be happy with them. Port acaras are really nice they are my list of fish I would like to have some day.

Don't Flag tails get big.

Wow, big changes !

An 18" and a 16" tilapia ? Potential breeding pair ? Surely they are going to murder everything else in there, once they settle in ? They are not something I know a huge amount about but thought they were very aggressive indeed. The JD and oscar may weel be bitesize too.
I hope it all turns out well. SOmetimes odd cichlid mixes can really work well. I keep my large male GT with a load of smaller cichlids which, in theory, just should not happen. But he is a pussycat so all is well. I hope yours works out well too.
Ah, maybe you meant 1 x 6" and 1 x 8" ? That would make more sense !

What are the dimensions of your 150 ?
Photos would, of course, be excellent !!

Your 55 sounds potentially massively overstocked if they all grew to adulthood, but it sounds as if you are wisely planning to thin it all out as they grow.

I too have a real fondness for GT's and firemouths. It's just something about the way they look and move. Firemouths are simply comical, and GT's are so interactive and easily as interactive as an oscar or a flowerhorn. People do not give them enough credit !

Flagtail, please hold up on those Flagtails for a little while...

A new member joined our forum on Sunday evening and has a 4-foot tank including two Flagtails looking for a free home, due to moving from from Winchester to London (http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/340142-house-move-forces/) . As I am 30 minutes tops away, I am hoping I will get the chance to take the tank plus fish on and I was thinking of you as an option to make a school of these guys at some point (albeit I do not know where you live relative to Southampton).

I do have another possible outsource for these guys that came to light last night. I saw that "VickiandKev" posted in one of your threads about a desire to keep these and I know these guys personally, not to mention they live in London and they might well be intrested in some of the catfish that "isobelleb" is trying to re-home.

Pictures?

I think 'Royal green terror' is just a way for LFS to make a bit more proffit out of a 'Green terror'.

What are your plans for eventual stocking then?

They are characins. Got some good news and bad news. Came home yesterday to find all my fish in the 55 dead. I did a 95 percent water change and reboiled all the decarations. I think the lfs sold me some sick fish they didn't look right. The good news is that I went to a different lfs to buy some melafix (in case ones survived, only the firemouths did and they are the healthiest.) I ended up buying some fish for the 55. I bought a 4'' plain green terror, 2'' red oscar, flagtail, and a jewel cichlid. They will live with the firemouths. Thats all I want in my tank.

Man thats bad :( I would have maybe held off buying any new fish for a few days though..... Also long term a GT and an oscar wont work in a 55 and plus all the other cichlids I can see some issues arising.

I solved the problem. I have the fish I bought in a 35 gallon for now then tommrow I'll add them to the 55 while its finished recycling. Right now I am just growing out the green terror and oscar then they'll go in a 150. The jewel and firemouths will live fine in a 55 with cories and synos until I get a 75-90. Flagtail will also go in a 150.

What do you mean recycle? Was the tank already cycled?
I do agree with Wills i wouldn't of added fish that fast there must have been a reason why all the fish died.
