Took back the puffer

I really really don't want to bring this up...but another member a while ago took back a fish from Walmart, and Walmart couldn't put the fish back in their tanks because it could be diseased with something, so they flushed it. Enless you saw them put it into the tank, then I'm guessing it didn't end up in one... :/

Like theirs arn't already diseased the way they take care of them... :ring: :ring:

Hey, I can say whatever I want. Well, not everything, but you get my point. I guess I'm just as upset as you are, because that puffer would of been better off with you, instead of a uniformed costumer who buys it and puts it in a 1/2 gallon bowl and tries to feed it betta pellets.

That fish is probably dead already, Walmart don't seem to give a flying .... about their fish. Can you not set up a tank for it? 10 Gallons would be sufficient and the ammount of salt needed for brackish is minimum.

Do you know what kind of puffer he was? If he is a dwarf, you could keep him in the 2.5 gallon as long as you have VERY good filteration on it and keep up with water changes (because I think they need 5 gallon minimum).

You even said yourself that he would of been better off with you:
even though it would live longer with me than in that tank.

Don't get youself down if you don't go back to get him (if he's even there), we all make mistakes, if you were to take him back to a well-trusted LFS then it would've been alright...but we're talking about Walmart here, LoL. I'm probably making you feel even worse by going on...sorry :X

I wish I knew people wanted ramshorns i just pulled three cups out of my pond filter but put a few in all the tanks I have because something will eat them.

really which is worse: leaving the puffer in the store or stunting it in the home aquarium? a GSP, which is the only puffer that i am aware of walmart carrying, should reach or exceed 6" and needs a minimum 30g fully marine tank when mature. it should not be housed in a slightly brackish 10g aquarium. you aren't rescuing a fish from walmart if you cannot provide for its needs. you're just condemning it to a different and slightly longer death.

what peeves me the most about walmart selling GSPs is that the Asell or S. American Puffer is another adorable green thing--except the SAP is fully freshwater and only reaches 3", so it can be kept in a 10g. and if someone had simply done an extra 20 minutes of research, they'd be selling those instead.

OOPS. Oh...horse poopey....I thought it was a DP...well then...just ignore everything I said (except for the flushing part :X )

Some Walmarts do carry DPs, so it very well could have been one.
I'm sorry to say it, and don't feel bad about it because there's no way you could have known they'd be cruel enough to do this, but if they told you they aren't allowed to take fish back and you left it with them anyway, it almost certainly got flushed. It's against their policy to take fish back (though if the employees are unaware of this they sometimes do,) so if a customer returns a fish they will give a refund and just flush the fish. Walmart doesn't have hospital or quarantine tanks hiding away in the back somewhere, and for some weird reason they don't like to risk putting sick fish in with the rest of their sick fish :dunno:

yea the lady who took it back was sad and thought it was dumb to do that, so she left right after i got my $4.43 and put it back in the tank haha so i know its safe.... for now !
