Tom's Bucket O' Mud

Will you at least do a decent photoshoot of the tank and submit it to a competition or two before you tear it down, BigTom!?

Seconded

Will do, although I'm not even close to happy with the current layout.

However, I seem to have pissed off one of the Mods here, so if I get banned you may have to come and follow the updates on one of TFF's competing forums

Took a few more shots tonight, still considering a rescape but don't think it looks too shabby now I've unclogged all the floating plants and the bottom is getting some light -

That's a massive bush of Microsorum 'trident' (there's some needle/narrow leaf around the edges as well). Pretty much my favourite aquarium plant I think.

but don't think it looks too shabby

most of us would be exstatic to have something as 'shabby' looking as this.

Heh, I think it's mainly a case of it not looking like I'd envisaged it to be, mainly as a result of being in a rush when I moved it so I just plonked everything in and left it to it's own devices for 6 weeks.

I think it looks awesome. Not overly keen on the under and over water planting look normally but this one looks great. Like the decor too.

Well, I've got a whole bunch of new plants and hardscape cluttering up my room, but still in two minds about whether I'm going to redo it

Got some lovely new fish yesterday (Sawbwa resplendens) which have really brought the tank alive. I should point out at this point that as there's someone home almost all the time now the fish are getting a lot more supplemental feeding, so I'm not convinced the tank is really self sustaining any more. Certainly still low input though.

My macro kit is at work at the moment so just a couple of quick snaps. I'll try and bring the macro rig home this week and get some of the danios and loaches as well.

Yeah they've settled in really nicely and coloured up right away. It's nice to have some fish that you actually stand a chance of spotting occasionally!

All change! After a rather intense afternoon and evening yesterday of unplanting, fish catching, water emptying, substrate separating, hardscaping, hours of replanting and finally refilling and restocking, I now have a... er, bucket of cloudy soup

Here's a little teaser whilst we wait for everything to clear -

Nice, looks like a much bigger scape than it is, well done with the scale and perspective. :good:
