I prefer baths in general as they are far more relaxing and you can take your time, showers are for when i'm in a rush!

I love having a shower but can't relax when I have a bath. Think it stems from when the kids were young and always seemed to need me just as I got in the bath. I try and have one now and wait to be needed for something. :S

shower :D i dont do relaxing always up wandering around (even if its my own house normally to the kitchen and back to my room...about a hundred times...with food each time  )

I see having a shower as an activity, something you do, whereas a bath is normally a distict lack of activity, and I relish every second of it.

Relaxation all the way, though showers do have their place.

shower in the morning and a shower in the evening, i cant stand baths, one the muck hanging around, two i cant sit still long enough to enjoy,,I have a bath in my flat which has never been used since we brought the flat, brand new, should fill it with water and a filter :shifty: its a very deep and long bath

o yes, that be interesting indeed, water changes quick and easy too lol

i prefer a shower, baths take too long, then again i can spend an hour in the shower at any given time lol :fun:

last i had a bath was 10 years ago, when i was five rofl

I dont get the whole "Bathing is laying in your own filth"... how dirty could you be?

I pref a boiling hot bath, but I usually shower weekdays as its quicker and I can lay in longer lol

I have always worked in foundries/factory's, when I worked with grey iron the coal dust would just attach to you! When I washed my hair it was like black paint coming out! I just could not lay down in it!

Well, as I said in the beginning of this topic, I was compelled to bath this morning cause my showers' geyser popped and I really thought I was relatively clean until I saw the bath water after I bathed...

Now this just makes me wonder... About public swimming pools.... All of those relatively clean people jumping into the same water with you... whose filth are you now into??.... (& I also shudder to think what they all could be doing in that water).... some with open sores and some blowing their noses under water etc. etc.....

 Sad but very true! My local swimming baths ask for you to shower before entering the pool, but they can not enforce it! As for the other things? Dont swallow the water!

My local one makes you walk through a corridor of showers to get to the pool, no way of avoiding it.

baths are an amazing relaxation method. and nothing soothes sore muscles/joints better. its nice to fill the tub and then just lay there (yes, in your own filth :look: ) and relax.
with that being said it has been YEARS since ive taken a bath. when i was sailing on tallships we didnt even have fresh water. i bathed in a bathing suit,on deck with everyone else, in salt water for a year. it was a BIG treat if we were sailing into a squall...if not on watch and you were dirty and not too tired to do so, you would run down below, put on your suit, douse yourself with saltwater and soap up quickly and rinse off, then just stand there and wait for the WONDERFUL FRESHWATER rinse that the rain would provide (also took many a "shower" under any and all freshwater hoses we came accross while ashore-once also got to use ice cold water from the ice melting in the cooler...honestly it was like christmas, even if only about a gal rationed apiece). i dreamt about hot water. hot fresh water. and ALL i wanted was a bath when my contract was up and i was finally back to the "real world". well, that was about 7 years ago, and still havent taken that bath. too much time cleaning the tub before hand. i guess i couldnt be bothered.
with that being said, to all the folks who dont like their own filth, take a nice hot relaxing bath...followed by a quick shower to rinse off the nasties...you were already covered in it so why not enjoy a bath, then shower off! that's how i used to do it-when i had time for baths.
great topic!
cheers

I shower because it takes less time, but I agree, Loraxchick, a bath, under the right circumstances can be a relaxing thing. Nice glass of wine. Good music...
