So sorry, but I had to laugh at the "nocturnal" fish bit there - somewhat monty python!!!Miss Wiggle said:really?it's a massive place but it's had a lot of problems, they've been shut down a couple of times now, think by the rspca, opened up under a different name but same owner and staff..... nothing changes!i've been in before and seen them fish out dead fish and sell them to people saying 'they're just nocturnal' and i've seen an angelfish with HITH so bad that half it's head had rotted away still for sale, no quarantine or anything, in with healthy fish.once (way back when i'd first started out) i bought a pair of angels from there and didn't quanarantine them myself, within 2 days a bacterial infection had wiped out my whole tank and i've heard similar stories from other people who have bought there.they have fantastic stockists because they get all sorts of wonderful things but they don't seem to be able to care for them as there are always lots of ill/dead fish in there.as you can imagine with these experiences i've stopped shopping there, left there in tears once seeing the state of the tanks, so i've not been in for a few years, i'd be very pleased if they have sorted things out but I'd urge extreme caution over shopping there.go to pet and garden world in armley its a big warehouse that sell lots of fishi get my fish from there
Sounds tragic though, that their stock is kept in such bad conditions, we had wondered about going over there, but will give it a miss, I think!!
I regularly use Calder Aquatics ( almost my nearest shop) and have no problems.
I occasionally pop in Paw Prints (Hipperholme) which is more general pet shop with an aquatics corner, but my inmates who've come from there have been ok.
Sounds like Tingley might be worth a visit.
Staying (just) in the Yorkshire area.... does anyone have much experience of Gordon Riggs (garden centre)? I haven't bought from there, but last time I walked through, a dad was enthusing with his child "lets see who spots a dead one first!" /
