Im looking for ideas on tiger barb tankmates. Fish must be plant friendly with a max size around 6" Ideally the fish would be an omnivore and at max size obviously wouldn't harrass the or even eat the barbs.

Any Ideas?

mabye some clown loaches only one, but they exceed ur size limit. however, they will even school with tiger barbs.

Tiger barbs can be agressive so you wanna find some fish that can hold their own. Giant danios would work good, also, maybe some dwarf cichlid species (depending on how many tiger barbs you have as I believe they will gang up) :good:

I like the idea of adding dwarf cichlid. Do you know of any specific ones that are compatible pH wise aswell as with plants?

I garuntee that nobody will agree with me, but depending on the size of the shoal of tiger barbs (8 or more) Anglefish work out nicly... and don't anybody say "OH BUT THE ANGLES FINS!" wrong folks, I've got 8 tiger barbs (4 regular 2 green and 2 albino) with 3 angle fish and they're fin together, and have been for 2 months. No fin nips and no deaths...

So anyways, now that I've proven my point, anglefish would make a good tank mate so long as the tank is atleast 29gallons (Angles get tall)
