actually i believe it converts amonnia to amonnium -the non-toxic form ---your bio field still uses that as a food source,just as it does ammonia...it slows down the cycle but does not stop it.

well, i think your test kits are a bunch of crap and that you dont have ammonia or anything since you havent complained of a dead fish in a month since youve had 3.0 nitrites for a whole month. Switch to liquid.
