This Person Should Not Keep Fish...

That is very screwed up but i find it hard to believe that what was shown in that video is a permanent setup....
I mean how long could a tank of that size realistically sustain that much biomass?
It would appear to me that whoever took the video was maybe setting up a new tank and had that amount of fish in that tank for maybe a day or so.

You would hope so at least

Thats what I thought when I saw it. Every fish looks in very good condition in there. All moving, swimming, colourful etc. If that was their normal conditions, they would be showing poor quality of life.

If you listen to the audio in the background it is Oriental. Now, my experience of animal welfare in the Orient leads me to believe different cultures can have very different views of how to treat animals.

I get the impression that his tank is a holding tank while he moves or gets a new tank or something.

Again all speculation thou.....

It could well be a stock tank for a online business and he is simply using youtube as a hosting company for his videos to show prospective customers that the fish are all healthy and well.

i thought it was a holding tank also but if you look at his other videos and the dates they were uploaded they have been there for a while

it is over crowded but i think the tank is big enough to hold them for now

Well done for bringing to our attention cruelty issues.Animal care groups don`t seem to be concerned about the welfare of fish so maybe it is up to us the interested fish keeping public to voice our concerns!

Wow those were some amazing fish and if you look at some of his other videos he has pleco fry too. so i dont know why these fish are the way they are all i can say is some of them are beautiful.
But again i dont think its right

May I ask a serious question here?

I am not trying to be mean, or sarcastic, or judgemental, or anything like that. This is a question I am just curious about.

What is the motivation for posting this link here on the forums? It's not always true, but certainly mostly true, that every single forum member here has joined the forum because they care about the fish and know that overstocking a tank is not right. So I do not think that you're just looking for an argument, or if you are, you are in the wrong place.

Unless the person who posted the video joins the forum and responds to this thread, there is no way for the members on here to talk with the person and explain out reasons for thinking it is wrong to keep fish like that. Again, it is not exactly a zero percent chance of that happening, but pretty close to zero.

Otherwise, all you do is call attention and bring more hits to that video. If no attention would be paid to it, it would disappear into obivion pretty quickly. Or, to put it simply, just don't look.

So, again this is not me being sarcastic or mean or trying to make you feel bad, I am just curious what the reason you had for going out of your way to bring attention to this. But, what kind of response would you expect? ... exactly what you got. A bunch of people, rightfully so, saying how mean it is. But, what did that really accomplish? And maybe here is the real point of my question here, how is it any different from the dozens of other threads exactly like this?

If you figured out how to contact this person, and felt you could get the knowledgable members of TFF behind you in support, that is one thing, but these "look at this car-wreck of a tank!" threads just don't solve anything or help in anyway. I just don't understand calling attention to a poorly cared for tank just so that more people feel sad.
i feel you have a very good point here!

we can all hope you are right.

Cruel you say? how do you know? all the fish look really healthy. you have no knowledge of the set up this guy uses, we dont even know what type of tank this guy normally uses!

If it is cruel, the best thing to do is ignore the post! posting the link, will just increase the hits the vid gets.

jumping to the conclusion that the guy keeps his fish, in a cruel manner. without the slightest knowledge, of the real situation. is at best foolish, and at worst very childish.

if you pop down your LFS and snap a pic of one or two of the tanks, then post them, without identifying where they were taken, would also lead to people complaining about the conditions!

As I have said earlier on, and we all agree, this looks bad, and after reading all your other comments I can see a bit everyones point.
I dont like utube as it seems to be used for "stunts" many from teenagers trying to be Jackass.
May I aks if anyone outthere is already a member, is it possible to contact the member of utube to see if he can come up with a reason for his videos.
I have read that many fish imported come from asia even if they not native there.
They may well be on the way here.
