This Is Twinkle Toes

Well the girls wont spray they will start meowing and meowing and keep on meowing until they get a male cat. You will give in or get her fixed one. This is one of the reasons why I had twinkles done so early...

Hi Angel Lady, :)

I suspect I will have to get her fixed soon. She meows a lot anyway and since I live in an apartment house I have to worry about the neighbors complaining.

It's the right thing to do anyway, for other health reasons, but I am not looking forward to it. :/

Those are so cute!!!!!

I love kitties so much...but 24!!!!! Holy lord...I can't imagine what your litter bill is *faints*.

SRC - You always have the craziest stories.

I know...be nice if more of them were good stories though :(. I seem to have alot of bad things happen...I always say "if it werent for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck". Just learned a long time ago to take it all in stride lol.

(and I haven't even told ya'll the "good" stories...cas they took away the General section lmao...you should hear some of the ones pertaining to some of my X's *wooo*). You might not ever date/trust men again if I told some of them lol.

 The bill is bad enough, but how would you like to be the one to keep those litter boxes clean?

Angel Lady is a true cat lover, for sure!

Inchworm - you'll definately want to get her done soon. The more heats a cat goes through, the greater the chance of mammary cancer, which is usually not very treatable and often spreads through the body long before you even catch the signs. In addition, the older the cat gets (to a degree; obviously very young kittens are also a risk), the higher the anesthesia risk, especially if she's been having heats, which can be a little taxing on the system. Also, some female cats are known to mark (not "spray" though, they don't really have the right equipment), and usually once they start, no amount of spaying stops them. So if you wait until a problem arises, you'll probably be stuck with a problem, and boy or boy - you don't want cat urine stinking up your place. It is RANK.

Angel Lady - Gorgeous kitties and ferrets! Glad to hear your girl's surgery went well. I'm sure she'll be feeling perfectly fine in a few days.

Hi RandomWiktor :)

Thanks for giving me such a good explanation of why it should be done early on. I would never have even thought about the anesthetic risk. I guess I should put it on my schedule of things that need to be done. :D

**shimes in**

Check your local pound..many of them have programs where the spay is discounted if you go to participating vets.

Around here a female cat is $35 (with certificate), plus $11 for the anethesia shot. At the vet it's $215.

/your local thrifty person...out

Hi SRC :)

Thanks for that information too. I'll check on that for sure.

I know it's pretty expensive around here, and unless it's still a kitten, they charge even more. Wouldn't you think that the rescue groups would sponsor something like this instead of waiting for people to let their cats have kittens and then "save them?"

Ok here is how the liter boxes are. I have 6 liter boxes and I use the scoop away liter, Its not that bad actually. If you do your job and scoop like you are supposed to the bill isnt but 30 dollars a month. Where the real bill is where cat food I but Maxium Nutrition and it is $5.97 a bag. And it takes three bags a week. The ferrets eat the cat food, The bird food cost &1.97 a bag. the degu eats the guniea pig food. Which costs me & 6.79 a month. This is how much the four legged and the two legged bird cost to feed a month all this together cost a grand total. All of this cost a total of &111.65 a month for cat food and guniea pig and degu and bird food and ferrets. Now this dont even count the fish food and things they need for a month. But I am here to tell you they cost much less than a child does to satisfy a month.

Oh and i forgot one more thing, The vet bills this month for the sick ferret was & 180.00 dollars. Twinkles surgery was & 80 dollars by the time I got her surgery and got the other three cats surgery also. I was out big money this month. I guess God blessed me with one of the most kind hearted man that anyone could ever ask for. We both feel the same way about animals sometimes I think he loves them more than me. And one more thing the house is very hard to keep clean with this many cats. But it can be done. My house isnt perfect but you can walk through it..

I will be the first to tell you. That if I dont vacumn twice daily and scoop liter boxes daily then I have one of the biggest messes to clean up. So with this many cats you have to stay up on the cleaning. That is the only down side to having this many pets. Also the money it takes to feed all of them.. But I love them and I dont mind it at all..

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to claim pets as tax deductions? ;)

You can't though, right?

They should let people do it if they're rescuing them as Angel_lady has.

I am going to make this a foster house for cats and this way I can get grants from the government, The lady at the News Paper told me this..
