This Is The Cruelest Thing Ive Ever Seen

these video links are going too far, theyre just littering the board, all your doing is provoking people and getting them upset!
why post them? is there a point?no are you helping anybody? noafter the video has been removed is it going to change anything? nowhy are you searching for these things if you 'love' bettas? are you benefiting the forum? no

i am sick and tired of seeing these threads tbh, they just cause heated discussions and are of no benefit to the board.

That seems harsh, the board isn't exactly bustling with activity. Honestly, I don't think it's wrong for someone to alert others to animal abuse. People are passionate about animals and they want to get support.

Yes members' questions are really important, but so is spreading the word that Bettas and other animals do not exist for the enjoyment for animal abusers.

And you don't need to search for Betta fish cruelty on youtube, trust me. For every one or two lovely videos posted, there is something that is painful for a Betta fish lover to find. It's because it's so common that it frustrates so many passionate fish owners and winds up on the forums. Even if it doesn't help the forum, if it stops some sicko from posting videos of animal cruelty on youtube, because he knows it will just get him flagged or banned, then it is helping the animals somehow. These people won't stop until they realize the audience that is available to them doesn't appreciate what they have to share.

So if it benefits a few Betta fish, I say post away! I'll flag every single one until I can do a search for a video and not have to see this kind of thing anymore.

"That seems harsh, the board isn't exactly bustling with activity."

This is, and traditionally has been one of the busiest sections of the forum.

"For every one or two lovely videos posted, there is something that is painful for a Betta fish lover to find."

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...ttas&page=1

Start counting, tell me how you come up with 33% to 50%.

"Even if it doesn't help the forum..."

If it doesn't help the forum it either does nothing, or harms the forum. Nothing is useless, harmful gets deleted.

"So if it benefits a few Betta fish, I say post away!"

If the detriment of the forum as a whole outweighs the benefit to a few fish expect those posts to be deleted.

OBVIOUSLY you didn't have the audacity to read at the beginning of the thread where I said I found it by searching "bettas".

AND TO BE HONEST WITH YOU... THAT VIDEO IS THE TRUTH OF HOW PEOPLE REALLY ARE...

Maybe by watching that video you and others can spread the word of the abuse.

AND WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD I BE SUPPORTING THAT KIND OF ABUSE WHILST ON HERE?

And if you have any further arguments about that I suggest you end it at there.

BECAUSE it's not helping anyone either, when you're sitting there ranting about the videos.

I gurantee you that a good majority of the people on this forum have already seen videos of that nature...

Just by searching "betta fish"

Unless you wish to live in a fairy tale land, and hide from the fact that things like that happen everyday, hence we, animal lovers, need to begin educating OTHERS about things of that nature... That animals are living beings and need to be treated as so.

I DID NOT MEAN TO OFFEND ANYONE WITH THAT VIDEO- and it was taken down.. the benefit from that, was that if any young person, or just betta lover.. won't have to see that pop up on their screen when they look for a fairly innocent video of a betta just freely swimming around.

I have to agree. Betta fish abuse stories are going to be found on any Betta fish forum, because as a species Betta fish are some of the most misunderstood and commonly mistreated. Their sad history and current conditions are the dark side of Betta fish keeping, and real Betta fish lovers are always going to be offended by what people do to their beloved fish species.

Turning a blind eye to abuse doesn't stop animal cruelty. So people are starving to death in the world: do you turn a blind eye to that, too? These things have to be uncovered before the issue can be addressed.

The facts are that 1) There are a lot of Betta fish abuse videos on youtube. 2) It's easy to stumble across them. 3) Doing nothing isn't going to make the user stop buying Betta fish to post on youtube.

Delete the posts if you want, but a month from now or two months from now, they are only going to show up again.

I don't understand why so many people seem to be hung up on thinking that people have to be searching for the abuse to find it. I commonly go on Youtube and search for videos involving my hobbies (not just betta keeping), just because I like to see how other people do things, not to judge people and leave comments every time I see something I don't like. When I go on there I only search for videos uploaded within the time frame since my last visit. That usually narrows the results down to one page, so as far as betta keeping goes, if there are any abusive videos then they will be sticking out like a sore thumb on such a short list. That doesn't mean I've searched for abuse. Does that not make sense?

I didn't say I come across anything like this every day. Fortunately it is not often. I'm just saying...it does happen, and you don't have to be searching for abuse to see it. You just did though. You didn't find anything, but you just searched for it.

i viewed them all

Well, in the case of the sunfish video, as I said I had just uploaded a video of Albert and searched "betta fish" to see if my tags worked. That brought up all the betta videos from that 24 hour period and the sunfish video was right there on that page, as were some fighting videos. Although I don't like the fighting videos I realize that it's a cultural thing and legal in some places so there's no point in trying to get them off Youtube.

I guess I could go back, search for videos from that time period and take a screenshot of the list if you would like to see what I'm talking about?

Ok, well, this is essentially what I saw when I searched for my video of Albert, plus a few videos that were added since that time. Even though more videos show for that day now, the fighting videos and sunfish video are still on the same page as my Albert video.

I just searched betta out of interest and found nothing bad.

Either way i think they are there and there isnt alot we can do about helping the fish in the videos, so they are in my opinion best left off a forum for people who like fish.

Just thought i would point out that it also depends on whether you search "worldwide" or "UK" only.
