Thinking Ahead To My Stocking

Check out the flame angel.

Truely stunning fish and one of the dwarf angels.

I will be putting one in my tank eventually!

Angels are a difficult one most run the risk of munching corals

Any from the family "Genicanthus" are the safest my female Bellus never looked at corals ate everything that was fed to the tank and are very slow growers

A little more risky are the coral beauties, Flame Angels Cherub angels, bi colour angels (Bet I miss one or two)

When it comes to the gobies and wrasse, would it be possible to keep several different ones, or would I have to pick which type and stick to it?

Oh brilliant, I'd hate to have to choose between them!!

Back to the 'dori' tang subject - I do plan on upgrading, but wont get one before I upgrade, incase dori grows before Ive got a bigger tank up and running.. Would it be ok to add a dori after all the other fish? and someone said I'd need a 6ft tank atleast, how many litres/gallons would it need to be, coz it varies depending on width/height also doesn't it? The tank Im getting now is 4ft 330L but my old FW 4ft tank was only 180L for example!

Sorry my bad 6 x 2 x 2 totaling 150 uk Gallons roughly 675Litres

Fairy wrasse you have missed out a few of my most fav

Scotts
Jordanni
Rhomboid
Lineatus

But I have very expensive tastes :)

Flashers you cannot go wrong with a McKoskers a great addtion to any tank :)

ooh yeah I did like the look of scots.. I'll be off for another look now, I was trying to limit my choices before thinking that I'd have to narrow it down even further to just one kind!

Is there a any kind of rough inches/gallon rules I can loosely follow as with FW fish?

So, I'm looking to atleast double my tank size for a fully grown dori then.. These are things I'm gunna have to bear in mind while househunting (no im not just moving house to accomodate a bigger tank, we have just had a baby too! lol)

not really an inch per gallon rule. marines are terratorial by nature. more so than FW so it all depends on tank dimensions the fish themselves. they are more indvidual personalities compared to FW too.

As ben says its very difficult to set a size per inch I would guess about 10 small-medium fish dependant on flow skimmer and any other filtration like a DSB(Deep Sand Bed) or MM (Miracle Mud)

Ah all the cunfusion! so as an example if I was gunna have 2 clowns, 1 blenny, 1 purple firefish (unless you can keep them in 2's?) and possibly a dwarf angel, how many wrasse/gobies would that leave me room to play with?
Sorry for all the questions!

Problem with stocking is it's 40% science, 40% an art and 20% luck. Reef tanks and marine fish tend to be very different. What works for one may not work for another. Take Flame Angel as an example. Some people say they reef safe, others that there absolutely not. Some say there fine as long as there well fed. You just kinda need to get a feel for your fish. Of course getting as much advise before hand is a fantastic idea but this is why most advise is grey areas rather than Black or White.

hm, looks like lots of research on each fish, a bit of hope, and some possible fish returns then! On the upside.. by the time I get my next tank, I'll be somewhat of an expert!

fire fish as a single generally. they will pick eac other off unless a mated pair which are very very rare in the trade

Also scrap the Catalina goby, they come from cooler waters, so cant be kept with fish you are currently looking at :good:
