Hey guys,
I was just doing the weekly water changes on my lil' buds. . .and I really hate it:

1: When one guys got this awesome bubblenest going and I destroy it because I have to change the water. To me it's like I'm a big giant destroying his lil wall of China. . . . :X

2. When I put them in a seperate cup and the fear of them jumping out gets me all kinds of nervous!! Worse-case senerios keep popping in my head. . . .

Just a rant. . . . .

1) You can try to keep his bubble nest by scooping it up into a cup and then putting it back in with the fish! I think that might work. My little guy hasn't made any bubbles yet, he might be too old being a pet shop fish, so I haven't had the experience.

2) What I do is I place a piece of tissue paper over the cup and wrap it around it. It works! He's tried to jump before, all that happened was the tissue got wet. :hey:

I learned in a lucky way that you should never empty the cup's water over a sink! I've never tried but I emptied the cup's water over another cup, keeping my hand over the top of the cup to prevent my little fishy from falling out. But SOMEHOW, one time, he slipped through my fingers! Slippery little bugger. I freaked out, because the cup I was pouring into wasn't very clean - I had used it for juice earlier - I never expected him to get through my fingers! I quickly dumped him back into the clean cup and emptied the water more carefully this time.

If I had been doing it over a sink I'd have lost my fishy already!

One of my friends lost his - he likes to say that he "escaped". What happened was he set it in a cup on the ledge of the sink, and he JUMPED out of the cup into the sink. Poor fish...
