E=½MV²... isn't the same as Bignose pointed out above
The text I quoted (wish I could remember where I got it from) compares the equations. It doesn`t say they are the same. It helps chimps like me visualise things more easily.
Much like where it mentions electrons existing in shells which, as we know, is not the case, but no one picked up on this one. It helps to visualise the structure of an atom, so it gets taught at high school. It is not correct, but it does a job of sorts.

Heh electron shell, orbitals and then the fact they can be at any one place at any time. Electrons are funny things... the book I mentioned before explains it quite well and goes into depth and trys to apply similar physics to elsewhere.
Anyway, you say you work for a power company... how big is the turbine? Any pictures for teh building? Always interesting to see, the size of some power plants are ridiculous.
