A lot of thought has gone into makeing a tank that would resemble something from a Nightmare, dragons and snakes is my idea. Two fish that cought my eye and I don't know if they would go together are a Red CT betta I have that would like a new home and Khuli loaches that I do not have, but my fear is that the betta will look at a loach and say ooooo yummy a worm and eat it.

The idea is a 10 gallon at least, with grey or red or black i dont know... subtrate, and plants, but i dont know of any scary plants that a betta would like. red ones need to much light for a bettas liking i suppose. I just think it would be really cool to have a rock scape of caves and mosses even with these fish. This is just an idea, and if you wish to wiegh in i would love input. THE Project will have to wait till my birthday at the earliest so i want to plan ahead as much as i can. PEACE

Khulis and bettas are fine, betta won't bother then and vice-versa.

I would say that khulis better suit a sand substrate (they like the shift and dig through the sand), keep in a min. of 5, they are shy and take time to gain the confidence to come out and play but when they do, they are fab :good:

Mine tend to hang off plants, wrap themselves around anubius roots, dig under the pebbles etc

I like your idea. You could go with black sand, rock caves and mosses. The backdrop will be important too a nightmare but one that highlights the betta. Good luck, have fun, and for godsake post pics! :hyper:

Have had a Betta with Khulis (& some corys) for a number of months & have had no problems at all. The Bettas & Khulis pretty much leave each other alone & even at feeding time the Betta is more 'agressive' with the corys than the Khulis.

Also, they do like to hide but once adjusted enough you will see them all the time! Mine like resting on the algae cleaner, draping over the plants etc.

Have six, two are larger & thicker, the other four are a different species with more frequent stripes.

The Nightmare theme sounds cool. Guess you should add different lights? Red/green would really set the mood....
