The worst trade names for fish.​

There are so many names that don't make any sense. And especially those that are made up by wholesalers...
 
Binomial names don't carry a lot of meaning if we speak English, but they make it easier to get grounded info on fish. At least you have a name that is the same in any language, so you can get wider info.
The trade name thing is very English. French hobbyists don't seem to mind Latin names - they're just new words to learn for fish. I've always seen it that way too, but I don't run an aquarium shop.
 
To me they are all names in one way or another. Some are better than others. With the binomial names I find one of the biggest issues is when you are working with something that is being actively researched, the genus Armillaria was one of those areas when I worked in forestry. With common names sometimes a single name can mean a multitude of different things, blue berries is one of those names.
