The Tea Lovers Thread

I like drinking tea from the pot, 3 teabags no less.

But one thing we must do is ‘warm the pot’, adding a small amount of boiled water to the pot, swirl it around and throw out and then add the tea bags and hot water.

Adding milk first to cup then adding tea from the pots is correct way.

As for tea bags in mug, hot water first then milk.

Never really tried loose tea properly so that may be on the list of must try one day, brewing loose leaf, maybe even mixing green and black tea to get desired flavour might be another thing to try.

Hmm, who knew there was so much more to tea than just a simple mug of tea! ;)
Loose tea requires concentration on behalf of the drinker. No matter if one of those metal dangly tea cages or a strainer has been used some leaves will escape into the cup.
After decades of tea bag usage you get out of the habit of being prepared for them and it never stops Being a shock when they crash into your throat.

Mother hated teabags, thought they were "common"

So when she could not find her beloved loose tea, she would get teabags, rip them open and use the tea within

It still tasted foul and spoons still stood to attention and the tea still made the mouth go dry

But to her, she was the best tea maker ever and no-one could ever make tea as well as she could

(Oddly enough the only things to actually appreciate her tea were the houseplants, never killed them but did stunt their growth)

The tea in bags is too dusty to make it like loose tea, no tea strainer can cope with it. On a few occasions when I've used tea bags in a mug I tend to prod the bag with a spoon to speed things up. That sometimes bursts the bag then the mug is full of those tiny dust like bits.

If I have one of my fruity/herbal teas I use two spoons to squeeze the teabag out....or flatten the bag tween spoon and side of mug

Jeepers, that's one hefty 'prod' to burst the bag! 💪🏻

It's jabbing the spoon up and down quickly that does the worst damage. I tend to get impatient
So it's more a stabbing than a prodding!
'Steep already you stupid teabag, can't you see I'm gagging!' 🔪🔪🔪

That's where the milk helps. :) It uses up some of the tannins--they go to tanning the proteins in the milk instead of the inside of your mouth. 🍵

I got this for my birthday and am obsessed with it lol

So, what kind of tea are you drinking this morning? Or in the case of @OliveFish05 , what kind of tea are your axolotls drinking?
Gotta be good old Tetley tea for me. Nice strong brew with a tad of milk. Although some others are good. Worst are some coffee shop teas, you can't even get a decent colour let alone any flavour from them! Lol

Anybody like chai? Celestial Seasonings in the US makes a teabag called "Bengal Spice" that, combined with a decent black tea and steeped in hot milk, makes a very serviceable chai tea.

I love a good chai, there's a Middle Eastern store near me that sells the best I've ever tasted...trying to find a link now...BUT, just like my EG, I like it plain, no milk...
