thanks Minnnt, although my 'camera skills' are very much dependant on 2 critical elements

1 - a very nice Canon EOS 50D 'on loan' from work
2 - a tripod

They spawned again this afternoon.

....female ate them within an hour.

Definately a summer breeding project (if I can ignore the wife's calls for "are you selling that tank in the shed or what???")

Well this is a bit interesting. The established pair appear to have been seperated by another female. The home-wrecker has now moved in to the pairs terriroty and is actively chasing away the remaining 4 angels. The new pair are even cleaning the same piece of wood the established pair used to spawn.

The male was always the laid back one and this new woman in his life doesn't seem to have phased him at all.

The spurned female is now hiding at the opposite end of the tank.

I'm slightly dissapointed but also highly intrigued to see this behaviour.

Who knows though, she may end up being a better breeding female? Just saying.

The tank is looking great. It's been a long while since I've checked up on this thread. :)

well, the affair seems to have ended and the original couple are now confirming their love for one another with another egg laying session.

Sadly they've choosen a rather naff place to lay them - so they'll either eat them again or I'll have an external full of angle fry

.....and this morning the eggs are gone.

The rival female is now hanging out with the male next to the filter pipe and chasing all others away, including the spawning female.

After 3 years of loneliness I finally added a female BN to keep my male company. The female was introduced yesterday and since the lights have been off ever since I've not yet managed to spot her and check that all is well.

Here's hoping the male has something else to do other than mope in his cave and occassionaly pop out for snacks.
