Yes it'll be a guppy tank, but on the plants and stuff ;)

Go with low tech plants like Anubias, Java Fern, Elodea & Amazon Swords. They all grow well in low light without ferts or Co2. That's basically what I'm doing in my 20 gallon and it's just plain easier. I have highlighting & ferts in the other 2 tanks & that costs more money & time. Many fish don't like the high lighting......

I didn't just get a loach, I got two amanos too!

I don't think one more Kuhli would add too much of a bioload, especially a 2 inch long one.

Hey Lovelies!!!

I juss watched a dude jump from 128,000 feet.. live on the interwebs.. that is pretty cool..

Hey Lovelies...

I'm 99% sure that Oscar won't be with us in the morning... He hasn't responded to the salt baths and water changed, his scales are sticking out and he is just laying on his side, panting every few seconds.

I'm saying goodbye before I go to bed, just in case... :-(

Sorry to hear about Oscar, at least you did what you could.

I know how you feel Lucy, to try your very best to save a betta only for him to give up :-(

Not relevant, but I saw the most gorgeous Dragonscale Half-moon betta at Petsmart....
He was pure, shiny, satiny white with turqouise eyes and turquise streaks in his tail  He was amazing!
But alas, I had to say no, even though my mom offered to buy :grr:

But they have dwarf hairgrass again! :hyper: My aquascape can continue!

He looked like this, but imagine a halfmoon, a solid thick white scales, no red, but the turquise is about the same :good:

Surprisingly the rocks in the filter instead of.biomax type materials seems to work. I put in enough ammonia for about 4ppm since I wont be fully stocking the tank off the bat. Surprisingly it pretty much removed all ammonia from the tank in about 14 hours and nitrates/nitrites kook good. All that was in the 50 gallon was an Oscar and a freshwater perch he caught a few years ago, I didnt think it would be able to process it that quickly. When I go to the lfs though I'll pick up some real media and swap out some of it

Hey Lovelies!!!

Thunderdrome is in full effect in the 37 gallon.. Had aboot fifty fries in there two days ago, yesterday at one point I saw three, then later in the day I had none.. Now there is one..

Also got my sex farm going quite nicely.. got a wild male in there with a wild and a fancy female guppy..

got two more females I am going to rotate into and out of the sex farm..

need to talk to my lfs aboot supplying him with guppies.. if I can get 25 cent apiece that would be worth it.. hecks, id do it for 10 cent apiece..

Just looked on Gumtree.com and someone was selling a 12 inch common pleco for £20! don't think so... lol

Opinions please... Oscar is still alive... I wish he would just go, it sounds mean but I'm sure I cannot save him and he looks so so miserable, I hate seeing him like this  He is just laid on his side panting :-(

So, I have stopped his salt baths because he isn't responding to them and they just stress him out. He's at deaths door and I don't want to stress him out unnecessarily, I want him to go peacefully, y'know? But do you think I'm being selfish and I should keep doing the salt baths and fight for him to live? I'm pretty sure he's un-savable though...

:-(

Lucy, you're in the same position I was with Alpha. I know how you feel.

In hindsight, I really wished I'd ended his misery right then and there instead of putting him through 2 weeks of hell. He didn't deserve to go out like that. No living creature does.

If eventually you decide to send him on his way, put him in a plastic container with some water and a tight lid. Add some clove oil to put him into a painless sleep, then overdose to peacefully send him away.

If you're squeamish, cover the tub with a towel so you don't see him end. But I would watch him, and say my final goodbye.
Fish aren't dead until 15 minutes after the last gill movement. So keep him in there for at least 30 minutes.

Then respectfully bury him.

It's tough to hold or watch a pet go, I held my beloved cockatiel Maxie in my hands as she took her last breath and her heart stopped a few seconds later. To see the light go out is terrible, but at least I was there to comfort her on her way out.

I'm sorry about Oscar. He will never be replaced.

There's no emoticon to truly express how I feel

Thanks crossfire, you understand

I held my hamster George as he took his last breath, I was hysterical... Makes my eyes sting just thinking about it :-(
