The Official "hey Lovelies" Thread

Hey lovelies! Just did a huge water change, since i'm leaving overseas monday, and my parents have a tendency to overfeed
The one Pink Jewel Tetra with popeye is making great strides! He's on his last medication day today, and his eye has improved so I think he can rejoin the big tank. Because the pink jewels are so aggressive torwards each other, they always get bumps and rips. Sometimes they get popeye, then quarantined and treated, but so far this guy is the only one to have made it this far (they usually die after second dosage  ) I shall call him....Mighty.
Gratz on your PJ Tetra's recovery.
Man, I guess tetras are worse than swordies. The ladies bicker all day but now their fins are whole. o_O

They are constantly at each other's throats. They have effectivley driven me off tetras, even though they are gorgeaous

Now i still wonder if I should go with the galaxy or crossband rasboras... or just settle in for some good old-fashioned guppies.

meh, guppies are overrated. Go with either rasboras.
I know that guppies are common, but if the tetras would hurt each other like that and i'd have to guard them... Not only that, but i've never had enough experience in keeping even the neon tetras... So having something more rare might be hard to keep alive. Though would be a challenge.

Thanks for the compliments guys, and no MoF, that's the other 20 gallon with the sand substrate. One of the new Guppies died already. The red one. The one that looks like an American flag is the other new one & he's easily the smallest.
The american flag one reminds me of the guppies I started out with.
Only that they had no blue on the tail, but yellow. Half silver, half black, with red/yellow tail and white dorsal fin. Their children then ended up looking like your guppy in the right, with the flaming tail with black, orange and red, but with zig zagged black lines instead of dots. Then the last generation was all green tails with black zig-zag lines, and two endler-looking males with gray tails, red dots and black dots, mostly silver with some metallic green shine.
Wow, that was a lot of information to process............lol

It looks like the Corries are doing a mating dance, either that or they're establishing dominance. Same thing really.......

Guppies are busy, active fish though. Not like some schoolers that just hang out in one spot like Neons or Glowlights. I consider Guppies the "corries of the top half of that tank." Face it, Guppies rock.............

True, but they need to control their raging hormonal issues

I have all males for a reason, I don't want 100 of them!

They are busy though, like they're playing rugby or something. Since they aren't a schooling fish anyway, you can get many different colors & types. I saw some Veiltail Guppies at Petco........... :hyper: Might have to replace the one that died with one of those tomorrow.

This is why i like livebearers: so much variation in fins and colors!
Swordtails' body colors vary, guppies tail and body colors vary, mollies' body colors vary...
The egg layers that vary as much are pretty hard to keep: bettas, badis and... what else is there that lays eggs and can vary in color and fins?

You might provoke crossfire with that answer :S

There's loads of different types. Crossfire even made an identification thread, but hasn't been unlocked yet even though she cited her pics.

I still want to see it and the variations of loaches. If there are red, blue, black, neon, long finned kuhli loaches and such, yeah, sure, i'd look for them, as long as they shoal together, and not different species of loaches that will not shoal together.
