Personally, I think they're pretty cool.
I mean, they ain't no great dane, whoch is the only true breed of dog, but they are still pretty cool.

What do you think about them? I think they'll gain poularity only because they're 50% pug and 50% Beagle.
Here's a really bad pic of one, you can bearly tell its a cross. I've seen much better

Has anyone ever watched Turner and Hooch that puppy looks just about like the dog in that movie. Dont you all agree ??? I think it is very cute. I wonder how much they go for...

 i have to say that i am less than enchanted by the creature... and this is a woman that's in love with shar-peis and chinese cresteds...

i'm sure you'll hear from several other, more informed opinions on why "designer-breeds" are poor choices and over-priced for what they are. the short version is that a breeder who intentionally crosses two pure-bred dogs to produce a half-breed that in no fashion satisfies a breed registry is not really being a responsible dog breeder. and there's no point in shelling out a premium for a dog that's not much more than a glorified mutt.

They are pretty cute, but I wouldn't pay any more for it than a Great Dane - Great Danes are by far the best dog out there.
So, does that mean they contract virus and sickness easily? Can mutts breed amoungst themselves? Or are they like mules?
I know nothing about dogs....except that mine is a dummy and great danes rock. I sound like a 5th grader....crazy!

I'm against all of these designer mutts. No responsible breeder would ever breed them, so most of the dogs do not come from sound genetic and temperament lines. "Professional" breeders can be bad enough; someone churning out mixies to sell as impulse buys at pet stores are even worse.
Pugs and beagles both have significant health problems inherent in their breeds, especially pugs. By taking dogs that are genetically poor, of breeds with many congenital defects, and mixing them, you create a recipie for disaster. Most designer mutts are like this; there was an 8 month old "labasset" at my vet office who allready had bad elbows, hips, and back. Thats what happens when you take two overbred, deformity-ridden breeds and cross the lousiest examples you can. Very, very sad.

At any rate, they are cute dogs, but there are millions of wonderful mixed breeds being killed in our nation's shelters every year. And there are plenty of "breed" rescues springing up for these custom mixies. So, instead of spending $1,000+ on a low quality mixed breed that will do nothing but wrack up vet bills, people should consider spending money on a reputable breeder with screened animals, or rescuing a shelter/breed rescue dog.

Great danes do indeed rock ;) I've known a few, such gentle giants.

Yeah, I just dunno when I'll ever get to own one! Do you think they're a threat to aquariums I mean like, knocking one over while chasing a fish or w/e?

For some reason americans and non-americans alike are obsessed with new things.
People find cute little baby yellow labs more actractive than say, a 11 year old lab :/

I think it just looks liek another mixed breed dog you'd find at the pound.

I think people need to stop creating more mixed breeds to sell for high prices, to people who have more money then they know what to do with, personally.

Seriously, why would you pay top dollar for a dog that can't even be registered? Check the pounds around you..I'm sure the same mix is avaliable somewhere.

The "new" breeds as they like to call them cost as much, or more, then their papered, full blooded parents. It's rather assinine if you think about it.

I don't like the designer mixes with the exception of wolf x dog which raise plenty of issues in their own right.

And calling them a wolamute is BS!!!!!! RRRRR good thing no one has put a breeder add under that one I'd be on the phone right now. What a way to sell a wolfdog to the unsuspecting!!!

I agree with RandomWiktor on this one.

I dissagree with desinger mixes and pure breeds on the count that are weak and have all kinds of health problems due to selective breeding methods a lot of breeders choose.

Yeah RW is right here. We get tons of these puggles, jugs (jack russel pug mix) , cockapoos, labradoodles, and such in at our shelter. They go so fast. But if you get in one that doesn't have that designer name no one cares for it. It's sad what these breeders are doing.

I think that's where these idiots are getting the names...from teh shelters. The shelter folks, in a good hearted attempt, try to come up with cute names for the mixed dogs that come in....and just leave it to stupid, greedy people to use that good attempt for the wrong reasons.

I think the name Puggle sounds like a Harry Potter movie gone bad.

I don't understand why people would fork over $1000+ for a dog that's not registered. But it seems to be popular, like uber tiny tea-cup breeds, which was the subject of a past thread.

They're cute, but then I'm hard-pressed to find a puppy that isn't. Would I buy one? No, but I've never liked dogs or any animal where the face is smashed up. Not saying they're bad, I just don't personally like them. One of my qualifications for my dog breed of choice was that it did not drool. That rules out quite a few breeds, pugs among them. But I am overly picky, and not great to ask about such things.
