You could try switching to a black background.
yeah in hindsight i think that would of been best :)

had a bit of a problem with some hair like algae growing on my wood since yesterday - its making the wood go a bit cloudy so im looking into getting some shrimps i think they might clear it up :)

If its a white fuzzy looking area im pretty sure itll go away happened to my new driftwood as well.

yeah thats exactly what it looks like :) im not that bothered by it i was already trying to decide on shrimps so i used it as an excuse to decide to get some :)

O lol cherrys or ghosts or amano? Ive always wanted red crystal shrimp :D its never gonna happen though haha and i dont trust myself enough to make a good shrimp tank.

im reading amano are the better algae eaters so i might go for them however the great colours of the cherry shrimp do make it a tough choice :)

Cherries are really tiny though lol but amano are the best for algae but i dont think the white stuff is algae more rather a short term fungus. So if you get shrimp get a lot of mosses for them.

i will do, i need to have a look what ones are available local to me.

Just out of curiosity when you had the fungus on your driftwood did your tank go a bit cloudy? as mine has and i think its down to this as my parameters are good :)

I wouldnt be able to tell because i didnt prepare my driftwood right and the water went pretty much straight brown, soaked the driftwood in my 75 gallon for 2 weeks thought it was good and now my water is brown i that to, but my 55 gallon is more tea now.

i think it probably is whats making my water slightly murky, ive done a water change tonight and it looks a bit better - tbf there doesnt seem as much fungus on the wood either so maybe no need for shrimps after all :p
