the filter is mature and had only not been in use for a week before so it appears to be in good shape i added food to make ammonia to start the cycle but its appeared to break it down so from what i can see the bacteria is in good shape
ive just added some danio's to start with to take it slow and watch i dont cause a spike
Hurray! Are those the first fish added? How are they liking their new home? I bet youre not even reading reading this, youre just staring at the tank....its what I would be doing haha
they are indeed - and ive been doing a fair bit of staring at the tank ha ha.
3 of them are enjoying their new home since feeding time this morning however one of them who seemed a bit skinny as soon as he was out the bag hasnt really eaten so im keeping an eye on him but fingers crossed
Well my fingers are crossed for ya too. It's fairly normal i think to have a shy one here or there while they adjust to the tank. I am no stranger to that - i've made a couple of horrible mis-steps in getting new fish in the tank, which resulted in some *really* traumatized and shy behavior, but it all straightened out in time. I think i'll post about a few of my experiences in my journal thread - my horrible mistakes should make you feel much better about what's going on with your setup
thanks i will take a look i took a risk when buying them tbf they were the only danios in the shop and looked a bit on the thin side but ill see how they go
update - hes perked up now i treated with some anti-internal bacteria and after a water change he was swimming normal with the others again - still a bit skinny but now hes eating he should be back to normal in no time
