I've had this tank since my 12th birthday, May 14th 2003. Here are a few pictures through the years of all the yucky stages it's been in. Just thought it'd be sort of neat to post. :)

( ^ hehe, can anyone spot the baby guppy? )

March 2004:

( ^ major disease wiped out past guppies, camallanus worms from a bottle of tubifex. :/ Had to restart, parents suggested fake plants for this stage. )

Around June 2004, I moved to an apartment ( waiting for my new house to be finished ) and had to put the tank in storage. =(

I started it up again August 2004.

In March - ish 2005 I was having family troubles and left the tank on it's own.. I know it's terrible, but I simply just couldn't keep up with it. Now, July 2005, I rescaped it. My family life has gotten a lot better.

So, what do you guys think? Does anyone know what kind of plants I have in the last set of pictures? Any information on them? :D Any help, opinions, critiques, etc. are much appreciated.

Love,
Dakota.

Your tank looked good before it crashed and now it's looking good again. I don't know what kind of plants you have.

All 8 or so stores around here that sell fish have those No Fishing/No Swimming/etc signs by the dozen. :p I think they're secretly stock-piling them.

Thanks guys. :)

I got the no fishing sign when I was 5 - came with my first tank ever, a little 5 gallon tank. :*)

The Wal-Marts and just about every pet store around here as them though. :D

Its made a lot of changes lol. I like when it was really filled out, with the guppies too (I found the baby!)
The sand looks good. Just shows how different a tank can look, with more/less plants, even fake ones, different substrate ect! That looks great for fake plants. This will inspire people lol, good job.

I think some of the new plants aren't truly aquatic... I'm pretty sure I've seen them sold terrestrial in pots, but I'm no botanist so I could be wrong :/
Regardless, it looks really great! I love the sand and the wood :)

It is cool to see what a tank goes through. And those plants look like hostas to me. They are terrestrial plants. I have some growing outside in my gardens. But I'm not 100% sure, but that's the first thought I had when I saw them. And I've seen somewhere on the net that you can put some terrestrial plants in aquariums, I've seen the pictures and stuff. I'm not sure about the effects on the plants but it looks great!

Oh and about those signs, my mom's guppy tank has one that says "No Skinny Dipping". She loves it.

heyy may 14 is your bday eh? i'm may 13!! hahahaaha

annyways i think the tank is looking great...it must be the sand..i think tanks with sand looks GREAT, good luck :D

Arghh!! I had a feeling they were terrestrial. Grr. I liked those plants too, and now they're going to die. Blast Petco!!

Thanks everyone. :) It's been to Hell and back but still is alive. I miss those guppies that I had before the crash though. So beautiful and healthy. I'll never forget Mr. Platy either, he was the only platy in the tank and seemed perfectly content hanging with guppies all day. I miss em.
