 not just radiator, all over the floor too

Yes some lovely plate for making caves

Going to get another 10kg, don't think there is enough there, that will bring total to 50kg :good:

Some nice rock pieces there Trod, but there sure as hell was a lot of crud come of it going by your cleaning tub
May I make a suggestion, purchase some acrylic rod, drill and thread this through your rockwork for some interesting shapes.

What's the chances of the rock shattering in to tiny pieces if you do that Colin?

Taking it slowly then it shouldn't be a problem, pick a spot in the rock that's dense in nature and keep well away from the edges
If your not comfortable with performing such a task then leave things as they are, there's always Milliput.

There certainly was a lot of crud, it is uncured rock and it was very yucky  I need the protein skimmer desparately, water in tank is a nice brown colour  I got in from work last night and my house smells of the seaside, its great

I might give the drill and rods a go, once cycling is over  I could try one piece and see how it goes :good:

I have know idea about how to make caves as yet, I think it will just evolve and probably look nothing like I plan it to, at the end

cycling is going to take awhile, i had uncured rock, it was hell!!!!

Yes I'm prepared for the long haul ;) not in a hurry :good: just hope the smell doesn't get to bad

How often did you do water changes and how much? any tips would be gratefully received

i didnt water change, just had 2 skimmers on it for 3 weeks, i pretty much just let it to what it needed. just have a heap of water flow and some good skimming, will make the cycle shorter.

If i did it again, i would make sure i have as much flow as i could, blasting into the rocks. Some say water change, and some dont. I didnt, and my water is perfect now, coraline grownin crazy. But it took time the way i did it, was worth the way and the wallet stayed full for awhile :D

Thanks Ehudd, I had heard not to change water, so I'll go that way I think, waiting for skimmer to arrive, should be saturday hopefully, as water is very mucky  I have 3 koralia 2's going at the moment that should be enough :good:

if you have an air pump or something, get a fine air stone on it, and just put that in there, it will skim the surface, better than nothing.
