This tank has been sitting here empty for quite a while, so i moved the sev, the platinum gourami pair, some apple snails and the BGK into it. Severus must approve as i think i have seen move of him today than i have in the last few months lol

I so wish I'd left the angels in the shop and got a severum instead. I'm in love with em

Beautiful fish they are....i have wanted one for a while. I am really happy that he is liking the move!

I would actually consider re-homing my angels in exchange for a severum. Thing is, I doubt it could live with my other tank inhabitants. I also know very very little about them.
Maybe you can enlighten me on their requirements for future reference

They are pretty chill for a large cichlid. Severus lived with goldfish for a while, Now he is living with a platinum gourami pair and a black ghost knife and he really couldnt care less lol

I had read they are a gentle giant. Do they like soft water and what are they like with smaller fish? Are they like angels and likely to eat anything that will fit in their mouths?

Mine is in fairly hard water. Havent tried him with smaller fish, next time i get some feeders i'll drop some in and get back to you on that lol

thank you. I'd like to know more about them but from people who actually keep them and not from random information on the net. My water is very soft so not sure whether that would work

Beautiful, yea ive been looking for a large pair of red severums forever and just recently found an adult pair, wasnt cheap though aha 80$ each :p

Thats pretty good pricing....you wont get reds for that here :(

Forgot youre in aussie haha my bad -.-

But i also got it at wholesale cost so it made it a bit easier

because they are specialist fish. It's not uncommon to find some of the rarer cichlids priced very high. Here in the U.K most common fish - such as guppies, platies, mollies and tetra's are all priced at about £2.00 each. Then things like cories come in at about £5.00 each but then when you start looking at things like Discus your looking to pay as much as £60 per fish.

The Sev is lovely. Not kept one for years but they are good fish.

As for prices you can spend a fortune! My mrs goes mad but I love plecs and discus and some price are scary
