The Forgotten Valley - 60l

hey i saw your tank on rate my fish tank.com
i said to myself, hey that looks like aaronnorths tank!
sure enough when i clicked on it it said AARONNORTH
congrats on the 4th place tank :hooray:
it really is a tank masterpiece(to me at least)

ha ha, its second now :D

The P.Helferi is like a stem plant, it keeps growing then you cut off the top, thin it out every couple of month (it produces lots of side shoots) and it can get messy underneath.

It grows massive root systems, and lots of side shoots (new plantlets) here is what is behind a stone i have removed

it will be hard to get clear water with the fine sand but apart from that i think you have done great making the tank look exactly like the plan.
can't wait to see it finished :good:

Fine sand won't affect the clarity. My Corys kick it up but as sand is heavier than water it goes straight back down. Its soil and/or substrates that contain objects that are much easier to stay in suspension that you have problems with. Not necessarily the sol itself but the 'dust' that it will contain.

Looking good Aaron.

Thanks, the main shop I use is MA @ the Dukeries (Welbeck, A60)
Sometimes i will go to Dobbies garden centre which is at Barlborough, livestock isnt great, but they have a good selection of equipment.

I also plan to go to MA @ East Bridgford (Nottinghamshire) sometime.

I had a few fish from dukeries in my FW days. I dont buy from dobbies though. Had and seen some very bad advice given. Also all the marine fish i have lost have all been from Dobbies.
Mastin moore aquatics is a good little shop though, just down the road from dobbies. The blokes there seem to know their stuff.

I went to Dobbies when it was first set up expecting the best, but almost EVERY fish in the whole shop had white spot, it seemed as though they didnt cycle the tanks
