So about week or less ago, I decided to seperate the Betta foerschi. The male was chasing the female an extreme amount, and had nipped her tail. She was just hiding behind the filter, poor shy thing! Stuck in the divider for the past few days... and then about 5 minutes ago I went to clean their tank, and found my male black as night. If y'all saw the pics, you'll know he goes from tan to dark when he's excited. Took a peek around him, and found my pretty little lady following him!! She obviously jumped the divider or some how found a way around it, because she is definitely enjoying herself at the moment. I've never seen them act like this, and I think it's pre-spawning behavior!! :hyper: The female is also very dark, and she is following the male, trying to get him to come with her to their pot, and never leaving his side. They're acting extremely gentle with each other. I hope this leads to something!! WEEEE! :kana:

As my mom said when she heard the story, shows what happens when you seperate true love...

Send them spawning thoughts!! :D

hmph! how dare you stick your tongue out at me on msn julie! meanie! lols! maybe they're gonna get naughty tonight ;)

They're in process of spawning!! :hyper: I'll post details later... I'm watching. :p Too exciting.. though no one seems to care.

The female is pestering the male like no other, I now see why you want 2 males to 1 female with mouthbrooders!

Man... bad news. Dad ate the eggs. He started chasing mom around the tank like NUTS, and just being way too aggressive, so I started to wonder. Brooding males are pretty darned peaceful. :sly: Anyways, checked closely and her fins were really ripped, so I seperated them again. Fed mom, and then realized dad was trying to get food through the divider. Brooding males don't eat. :sly: Sooo tested him, and he ate. GRRR!! Fatty did a bad fathering job. I'm sure he'll do better in a week or so, when I try it again though.

Even though it was unsuccessful, it was beautiful and I feel so blessed to have been able to watch. I'll give details if anyone has specific questions.

Edit: Sorry I don't have any betta porn for y'all. They were doing most of their embraces in a flower pot and it's rather dark and such in there. Hehe... mouthbrooders are a bit more secretive about their ... adventures.

thats ok julie, is this ur first time breeding mouth brroders? iv never known anyone whos tryed. hopefully the father will be a lil more fatherly next time ;)

aww sorry to hear that it dditn' wrok out, but at least they tried!

guppydude, i believe julie has bred betta falx before...speaking of which, how are those now?

GuppyDude - cutecotton is right, I've bred Betta falx twice and have currently growing fry. I'm sure they'd spawn again if I let them, but they're seperated cuz I already have too many of their kids!

cutecotton - The babies are doing well, they're starting to grow, finally!! I've got them on grindals now, I hope they'll be ready to send out in a few more months at this rate.

At first, I was :hyper:

Now,

Oh well, looks like they have you determined on breeding them. :p
