Oh wow, I've never seen this! He's so pretty. I wants himssss...

Well, the reason I was looking online for fish is because every Betta in every store here is either dull blue or pink (supposed to be red) and really sick looking. They keep them in those tiny little Betta bowls and their fins are all torn and horrid looking. I honestly don't think it'd live long if I bought one :/

Some of those fish on AquaBid are WOW!! Just beautiful!
I'd bet they would brighten up considerably once you rescued them. Most stores do this, and if I had more money and room, I'd save them all. Poor little guys.

Now Aquabid's... They're just beautiful. I've had to stop myself from drooling on my keyboard several times when looking at them. I just don't have the money, though. Once I do, I'm getting one!

I don't look at it as supporting that poor care of your LFS, but rather like saving the little guys from it. Like Yuki said, they usually color up greatly once home and out of those little cups.

It's more than just color. Most of them have torn and missing fins. My brother bought a tank and Betta for his son and is on his 4th fish in the last few months because they keep dying but he doesn't want to upset my nephew so he keeps replacing it  And he does take care of the fish...so it's not neglect on his part.

If there's a demand, the supply will continue. I'd rather pay a lot more and get a healthier, prettier fish.

I'm planning on getting into bettas. If I had paypal, any of these would have been in the mail to me straight away.... I cropped most of them to just the fish to save drive space, so sorry if people's credits got cut off.

I love metallic silver/gold bettas... and crowntails rock.

Time to torture myself some more.....

The finnage isn't that impressive, but I just LOVE the color and the bettas face is adorable! It's "nose" is all short and adorable.. like a pug betta rofl.

Oh god that looks awful. It looks like half a fish with a tail on the end. Most probably a deformed one that somehow survived. What on earth are they describing it as?

Just found it.....apparently it's a female HMPK

I don't know how it made it. You'd think it would've been picked off. This was posted on another site, but apparently some people do this "cutting" to fish. Sounds awful, but they said that could be what's been done here. They cut the back end off, and put it together to make it munchkin like. I think it's terrible either way...natural or if someone did this to it. :(

poor fishy :(

I can't believe people would actually cut their fish in half like that  Just when you think you've seen it all.........makes you wonder what's next on their list

 :hyper:

The first guy would be SOOOO perfect for my little Shiva if Alpha decides he's never going to build me a nest!

And again..

Well with any kind of selective in-breeding, you're bound to get more congenital malformations - I would've thought that's the likely explanation anyway. If that's the case, well done to the poor creature for surviving the ravages of man-made selection! Still, $120?...
