The 1 thing no breeder ever wants to hear

if you give your orangies to me...i wont mistreat them. they will be papmered...

as for not telling people how to take care of their fish, i think if the fish is dying its your duty to. especially since it was your baby.
everytime im in the fish store, i try to talk to as many people as i can. i think if it can help save the life of a fish, then its worth running the risk of sounding overprotective (even though they arent my fish)

i think you should tell mr ly exactly what you just told us. he would be hard pressed to find another person as good-natured as you to sell him quality bettas.
i think he would understand and if not, i would definately go elsewhere if i were you. im guessing this is a mom and pop store?

Just think of it this way. It was a gift, and Mr. Ly did not honor it. That's what should have upset you the most, the fact that a gift to someone was appreciated for maybe a day.

I am so sorry to hear that Wuv. :-( I can't even imagine how hard that was to hear. I hope (although easier said than done) that you feel better soon.

Thanks for being so kind you guys  I almost didn't post about it because I was so upset and I wasn't sure if I was being a drama queen (I'll admit, I kinda am) But GP..

I think that's the biggest part of it.

coconutman~
but if i got a fish for a gift i would take the best care i possibly cool of it and would never let it get a speck of dirt in the water or anything!

I know! And why not let me know so I could take him home and try and help him. :dunno: :(

Sorrell
I hope you can feel somewhat better knowing that my babies are so healthy and happy. I love them so much and I am so grateful that they are here
I know sweetie  Yours and Julies both
I don't want people to think I'll freak out if they get a betta from me and it gets sick  It's not like that at all  I expected more from them or something...I dunno -_-

cometcattle~
The only thing I can think of to make you feel better is for you to walk over to your babies and take notice of how well you take care of and spoil your fish.

Great minds think alike! I did exactly that  I gave everybody a water change even though they just had one the day before yesterday

jac~
i think you should tell mr ly exactly what you just told us
Oh trust me, I did...and then some. I can't say I'll never go back in there but it will be awhile before I do.

Thanks again to everyone ,you've all made me feel better about this whole thing   I was so sad when it all sank in.

If you want, I'll purchase a orangie off you and spoil the heck out of it. lol, but seriously, I've been eyeing those down for quite some time now...

Im so sorry to hear about your situation. I know how dishartening it can be to give a gift with good intentions and it be neglected as if it was and everyday occurance. I am terribly sorry for your loss, and that you had to endure basically a rub in the face for your generosity and loyalty to the store. Like some one said before it was like the girl at the counter was trying to get to someone else through you, and that isnt right no matter how you look at it, much less use a live animal as the way to do it.

It's a shame they don't realize the fish they have on display are advertisements for them. If a customer comes in and sees a listless fish in dirty water at the counter (where it's easy to see and clean), what does that say for how they take care of the rest of their fish?

I believe this is a good thought when considering doing business with them. If Mr. Ly was so impressed and truly loved the orangies then I believe he would have wanted to flaunt such rare and beautiful fish rather that let it sit for all to see and have it die. Just doesnt sound like proper business ethics or moral ethics to me.

Im not intending or trying to judge the store/employees or even there practices sence I dont know the full story, Im just giving my opinion. But I feel your have an incredible oppertunity with this breed and I know you put tons of love and patience and TIME into these fish only to be squandered on a LFS that doesnt care, that is something to rethink.
But again in time once the shock of what has happened passes you will be able to decide better on what is best, and then it will all make sense.

Congradulations on breeding and rearing all those cute lill buggers I know they truly appreciate a Fishy Mom like you.

ive been waiting a week to see the orangies in some pics

wow i feel so sorry for you kelly,it must be so hard and hopefully dont go thier for a while to make them feel horable.

I'm sorry you had to see your fish mistreated. I know how all of you feel about your fish and it's hard to find that others wouldn't treat their fish the way we do ours. I know that even just going on vacation I worried whether or not my fish were getting proper care, but not all the time do others feel the same. I wish I could give you some advice as to what to do, but I think you handled it well Wuv. Sorry about your fishy :-(

Thanks you guys  I feel a little better today...when I'm not thinking about it -_-

st~
Thank you, sweetie  And I agree...he shoud have been put on a pedastal.

ufb~ I'm getting to the pics  I'm waiting for my new containers to be delivered so it will be easier to photo them.

tekkno~ thank you

What boggles my mind is that I may have over dramatized it a bit, he wasn't ever as filthy as...say,a Walmart betta can be. I would have spoke up then, it was just...grungy.

ya that is pretty mean, the fish didn't do nothin. if they were mad at u for sum reason they shoulda took it out on u not the defenceless fish.
