i posted a thread asking about compatibility of fish and noone responded, i thought this is what fish forums were for.... i'm really disappointed in u guys :-( my roommate had no choice but to order them anyway and hope for the best

Wow, you nearly waited a whole 24 hours before just ordering fish.

And did you spend all that time researching from other places, or did you just sit with a stop watch counting down until it was time to just order all the fish anyway?

</sarcasm>

The lack of patience shown is not a good sign for any fish you plan on keeping if you cannot wait 24 hours to research something properly.

I know I am at the high end, but I spent around 2-3 years researching SW before I set up my first tank. Waiting 24 hours before ordering far too many fish in one go does not bode well.

Hi Stargirly....I'm sorry that you didn't get an immediate response to your post. Our section is a very small tightknit community. We have less members than the FW section. Prior to becoming a moderator, I had many questions that were not answered in under 24 hours. I didn't abandon ship. Sometimes, you can do what is called a 'bump'. That is, if no one responds quickly to your question, you can simply type 'bump' into a post and it will bring your question back up to the top of the list. We can't do that for you....you have to.

Being on the protective side of you, you will not have a lot of success if you purchase fish on impulse and without research. Saltwater is NOT like FW. Also, the post you made will certainly appear 'off' to many members here. Those kind of posts may reduce your responses. Try and be more positive.

Again, sorry for the lack of response to your question.

SH

Agreed... patience is the key.

Or alternatively, you can run over to reef central and get told quickly that you are being cruel to animals. Your choice. ;)

The fish you list will probably not fight with each other. Still, it pays to take info from other sources.

Bottom line and the truth, you bought those fish, if they don't mix, you caused there demise, not us.

I suggest you buy a book or two and don't blame a volunteer online community for your haste, lack of research and in-patience. We try to get too as many posts we can, but if we cant answer, we wont full a thread with mis-information.

It is up to the respective individual to conduct the right amount of research, whether it be from online, a book, or advice verbally. Again, look into some current literature, reviews can be found here, right above where you criticized us!

How did your roommate have "... no choice but to order..." ?

I'd have thought she had plenty of choices?

In cases of this guys lets just not banwagon on top of her. If she wants to do something like that just ignore her; but, posting like this will get no one anythere.

oh dear. ever thought of looking things up yourself? or perhaps a forum search, there are very few questions that have not been asked before. things in the fishkeeping world, all take time, especially if you do it right. sorry you feel so let down. did it not occure to you that this post may well not help when you ask questions in the future?

I have to say this is one of the most pathetic threads I have read on here.

To blame it on us that you had "no choice" but to go and buy some fish is a complete load of crap. You obviously don't have the patience to start a marine tank if this is the attitude you take to it.

very dissapointed....

Guys stop posting. This is turning into a very bad thread. It is on the brink of a World Forum Flame War.

Stop! :shout:

After all it was her friend that was looking to buy the fish so why on earth didn't the two of you sit down at a computer for 30 minutes and find out if the fish were able to be put together. Its not a hard thing to do afterall. I am only in the aquarium hobby for three weeks but I sure know what to do before even considering buying fish...research research research.

If you dont bother doing research for yourself you're already at a loss...and so is your friend!

It is a pity that your question wasn't answered but in life not all questions cant be answered considering the high traffic on this site from day to day. Its quite easy to slip through the cracks.

Sorry I don't visit the marine section too much so sorry I couldn't add any input into your original post.

well i hope you all feel big and clever now you have slated someone for the day? i know this is a forum and people express their views but did it really take 10 of you to put the boot in? not once did you suggest they cancel the order and offer help, instead of putting people down who are here to learn why not be more constructive with your criticism?

stargirly i recomend you cancel your order and get on this site animal world go to the marine fish section and this will tell you about marine species, their temprament and the tank size they should be kept in.
