Fish Crazy
Hi, I just wanted to share this to everyone as it might save your fish.
One of my SAE developed syptoms of internal bleeding(red face, bloodshot fins and such). I thought of bringing him back to the lfs(there is a 7 day guarantee and its only day 5) because of what I've read about hemmorhage(sp?). That I really can't do anything much about it. But dang, I know of some herb that might help my SAE. So, I captured him, put him in a quarantined, and added cloves of garlic(fresh). I had him in a small container thats in the tank itself(I dont have a quarantine tank then, its about half a gallon, but its in the tank for temperature reasons. I didnt feed him. He is in there for about a day, and guess what, he is still with me! That was 3-4 months ago. I also tried this on my lone tiger barb who had finrot(the other 12 is healthy and no signs of "dirty water").He recovered and is in the process of growing his fins back. And I strongly beleive the garlic helped him. Now, everytime a fish seems streesed or sick(fin rot, clamped fins), I always test the water, and if I'm sure nothing is wrong, add ich medicine and always add a couple cloves of garlic.
Anyway, do try this at your own risk. I dont wanna be responsible if your fish dies. I dont have any degree in fish medicine or any other college degrees(I'm only 17, almost 18!). Just pure first hand experience.
